It's gotten to the point where they fight almost everyday and a few times they have had screaming matches. I dont want to complain to anyone but sometimes its at 11 or 12 at night and its really distracting. What can I do?

I've been told that it is rude to say no when someone asks to dance especially if I am there to dance. I don't think it's my responsibility to say yes to somebody just because i've been asked. What if the other person is unattractive to me? I'd be dancing with some brave, ugly waste of time. However, one song is not much of a commitment and I want to be polite. What about my social status in the eyes of my peers? Would someone not ask me to dance because I was seen dancing with someone who is not my equal or my type?

There is a disagreement on the definition of "personal touch". I know of an acquantence who was previously in the hosptial but I did not know at the time. So, I emailed saying I wished I would have known so I could come up to the hospital and help him feel better and I'd be better at it than the nurses would.

He replied back saying "what would I have done to make him feel better?". I replied (trying not to be too suggestive since I hardly know him) .."Let's just say that there is nothing better than a personal touch especially when you're sick and in the hospital". I was meaning as a personal friend as a caring and concerned person. I must admit I do like the guy.

Was I out of line? My mom says I was way out of line even my intentions were to keep it simple and not send the wrong signals to the guy. The debate here...is I should have said something like "bring you a teddy bear"...etc.

So, guys, would you have thought I was being too suggestive if I or a girl said that to you?

I get the soda for the co-worker out of a machine in our office kitchen and carry it back to her because she has a heart condition that makes it difficult for her to walk and breathe. The other women in my office are constantly on me because they think that the soda contributes negatively to the woman's physical condition. They think that she caused her own heart problems because she is overweight and therefore think that she shouldn't have any soda. I only do this a couple of times a week (not everday and never more than once in a day). The woman I do this for is a good person, and I do not mind doing this for her.

$50 to take her urine test for her? I just got back from a drug screening test for my employer and this woman sat down next to me with a sad face. She said she couldn't fill the cup the first time and they want her to try again, but she has to pick up her son soon. Out of nowhere she whispers to me "please fill me cup for me...I swear I will give you $50. Mind you I had offered her a dollar to get a drink to help her "go" before that. She said she left her wallet in the car and she can't leave out. Now she has $50 on her. There is no chance of getting away with that anyhow with the nurse standing right there, but what a strange thing to ask someone.

But would it be okay to get the birthday lady a tiara just to wear when a group of us take her out to lunch? I think it'll make her feel like a princess on her special day or do you think I should interpret the "no gifts" strictly? No ifs, ands or buts about the rule?

When visiting a friends house is it proper to replace the roll, if the new roll is openly availible and you use the last sheet on the old role? Or would this be stepping on the host's toes? What if there isn't a waste basket available in the restroom to dispose of the old one?

Here in Ireland curse words are sprinkled through nearly all of our conversations, and even in some cases with customers and nobody bats an eyelid. However, I have heard of Irish people being fired in the US for throwing in something as light as feck into a conversation with no malice.

So, why does profanity that has no malice and bad sentiment have such repurcussions in the US, particularly in the workplace?

Something I've always wondered. Western etiquette taught us that it is inpolite to burp after a meal. This stand in contrast with many eastern cultures(arab, japanese) who actually consider it to be a sign of appreciation of a good meal. And let's be honest it's a purely natural digestive reaction to let out excess gas. So why do we consider this to inpolite and when and how did we come to this etiquette rule. quite curious to find the right answer.

the
"hello, how are you doing, what do you do "
isn't getting me very far this days so....

Conversational tips? (For all situations, business, fairs, conferences, street, the opposite sex, random people in random occasions?)

How do I make people tell me a whole lot about themselves, and feel like giving me their business cards when I have to go?

share with a 'young 'one that you have learned!
THANKS FOR ALL TIPS!

Why put ourselves through all the Christmas pressures? Hasn't this time of year reached a ridiculous stage when everyone feels they just has to buy the best presents because the media is telling us to do so? Isn't this madness!!
(Please if you're going to be rude about it don't waste your time, this is actually quite serious stuff.)

I'm friends with a girl who works in a gym I'm a member in. I became friends with her when I joined, we started going out on nights out together about 7months ago and have become friends. She has got one free membership that she can give to somebody ie friends or family and she's given it to me. It came up in conversation that my membership was due which would be €500 and she said I could have her free membership as none of her family members are using it. I gave her a thankyou card yesterday with €80 inside. I'm just wondering if other people out there would have done the same?
