I get the soda for the co-worker out of a machine in our office kitchen and carry it back to her because she has a heart condition that makes it difficult for her to walk and breathe. The other women in my office are constantly on me because they think that the soda contributes negatively to the woman's physical condition. They think that she caused her own heart problems because she is overweight and therefore think that she shouldn't have any soda. I only do this a couple of times a week (not everday and never more than once in a day). The woman I do this for is a good person, and I do not mind doing this for her.

You can't be held responsible for someones choice to drink soda even if it is detrimental to their health. The most you are doing is trying to be helpful. You can't be expected to be this woman's decision maker.

Since when is being kind a bad thing? Sure; maybe she shouldn't be drinking soda and should get up and walk around once in a while but that's not anyone's business. If you're ok with doing this, don't let the other women bother you. They are just mad because you probably don't do that for them.........drink up!

I think your co-workers are being ridiculously judgmental. I get sodas for my co-workers all the time, and they for me. It's called courtesy - you know - "Hey I'm going to the kitchen, anybody want anything?" that kind of thing, as a matter of fact, a co-worker just brought me a Dr. Pepper! Just keep following the rule "treat others as you would like to be treated" you know? I say : Go for the social graces and forget the drama.

Those women need to get a life. If the woman wants a soda then I think it's great if you get her a soda. If she wanted water and you got that for her too, then you'd still be a good person.

Well I think you are being very kind and should continue to do so. This woman is going to get a soda regardless of who thinks it's a bad idea. That is obvious. Good for you-we need more kindness in this world!

Tell them when you want their opinion you will ask for it. They are being rude and obnoxious. It is none of their business and if it is your co-workers wish to drink a soda that is her choice, regardless of what others might think.

Keep treating this woman as you are sugar.

If this continues consider taking this issue up with your supervisor. Let the boss take care of this so that their ridiculing stops. You do not need to put up with that at work. Please stand up for yourself.

I believe it is her choice whether to drink soda or not and it's none of your coworkers' business.
However, you must decide for yourself whether or not you are okay with contributing to her problem. I have a friend with a heart condition and I would not give her something with caffeine if she asked for it because I know it will make her problem worse and she knows it too. On the other hand, I buy my husband his cigarettes sometimes...

I think it is kind of you.

I know personally that when my fat a$$ gets too big to waddle down to the old soda machine, I surely hope someone will have the kindness to fetch money from elastic faux jeans (I won't be able to reach them due to my Jabba the Hutness) and fetch me a delicious carbonated beverage .. and maybe a hershey's bar because they are 2 tastes that taste great together.

'she shouldn't have any soda'? I assume she's an adult, if she wants a soda she can have one. If you want to bring her one, that's your choice. I won't bring people smokes or give them a light but that's my choice, I won't ever criticize any adult who does bring another adult cigs when making a store run. They're a bunch of annoying busybodies. Either ignore them or point out everything they do that's even remotely unhealthy; any fatty foods, smoking of course, wearing high heels, taking the elevator instead of getting some exercise using the stairs, etc, etc, etc.

Is it a diet soda or regular with all the sugar and high frutose corn syrup? If it is not a diet soda, I would agree with your coworkers. Most people are overweight because of lifestyle choices, not genetics!
