This gave me a bit of trouble. It depends on who you are visiting, if it is a close friend, I would just replace it, walk out with the old role and throw it in the trash. As far as a mere aquaintance, I would replace the role facing the way you saw it, and fold the empty cardboard one in my hand and walk to kitchen and place it in that trash.

It's perfectly acceptable to replace the roll if you were the last one to use it, and it's in plain sight (and truthfully, a good hostess should have extra rolls easily visible and available to her guests - just in case - so no one's caught with their pants down, so to speak). As for a waste basket, there should be one around. I can't imagine anyone not having a wastebasket in their bathroom. However, if it were me in that situation, I'd replace the roll, and discreetly carry the roll into another room where I could get rid of it.

Definitely replace it. As a host, I'd hate for someone to come up to me in the middle of a dinner party and whisper "TP's out in the bathroom!" That's why I keep the rolls in a nice basket in plain view.
If there's no waste basket (which would be weird), then I'd hide it in my pocket or under my sweater and discreetly head to the kitchen to dispose of it.

CHANGE IT - think about it . . . . if she didn't want it done . . would she have left the new roll openly available? No waste basket? Then conceal the old one to the best of your ability and take it to the kitchen, find "that" waste basket and be done with it. It is common courtesy.

I would replace it, it's just a normal thing to do. I probably wouldn't carry the old roll out if I didn't see a waste basket, it's a 'clean' kind of garbage, I'd just put it aside. No harm in seeing an empty piece of carton sitting on the floor in the very corner.

I would (and often have) change it. In a home with an extra roll or two available, a wastebasket is practically a given in my experience. If there isn't one, surreptitiously dispose of the roll in another room.

Heck, I say change it then take the old roll out with you. When you see the host say, "I had to change the roll. Where's your garbage can?"
I don't see how changing it could be seen as rude. I think it's actually nice of a guest to do that.

on your sis i might purchase a paper holder that holds 3 rolls via the seat section. What do you do whilst in a public place and somebody sits interior the stall next to you and you will't even get them to grant you merely one ply of a unmarried sq. of a double ply paper....Oh thats a controversy. we've some impolite, lazy human beings around. Oh come on obtainable ! no longer even one sq. of a sq.?

Absolutley you should...if it's readily available. If there is no wastbasket, I would take the roll out with you, find the host and say, "Where can I dispose of this?"

I'm for changing the roll and if there is no trash basket, just leave the empty lay on the counter or back of the toilet.
