What's a good (tasteful / fast / easy / affordable) present to get for the staff of a dental office?

All the stores are full of candy and cookies and chocolate baskets, and I can't get them that... lol. Also, unfortunately I don't have time to bake or make anything myself.

Thanks people! :D

If you had to invent a new way to make toast, how would you do it?

When invited to a party, and guests are allowed, how many guests is it reasonable to bring along? I'm actually throwing a party and one of the people I invited says she might be bringing up to four guests. Is this acceptable behavior? It seems a little tacky to me but I might be over reacting.

No matter where I am, once I've finished my meal I feel like leaving immediately (Dont worry I always pay first!))

Okay, this is an odd question. My boyfriend scrapes his fork along his teeth when he eats and clinks the spoon on his teeth also.

Is is like fingernails on a chalkboard and I was raised that it is horribly rude. I have mentioned it a couple times, and he's reacted by saying, "Oh, now you're going to nitpick all the little things?", and "What, are you going to leave me because of this?". He also thinks I'm nuts and says he's sure everyone in his family does it, too (they don't, I've noticed).

Sounds petty, but it makes mealtimes the most grating thing ever. I find myself "accidentally" leaving the TV on to cover the noise.

Am I crazy? Can anyone site something that says what poor manners this is? How can I get across how grating this is without insulting him?

I have just joined this site, and have found it helpful on some issues, but I am very dissapointed in the type of people who make glib remarks, such as saying you should buy season tickets for a man with a few months to live, or telling a 15 year old girl that she is clinically obese. I know that there are alot of young kids, just trying to be smart*****, but I think there is a time and place for some of these comments. Oh I agree that some of these questions are ridiculous and some are made up for the laugh effect. But some are not, some are serious problems. I think people should learn to tell the difference. What do you think?

I am a total deer in the headlights this year as to what to buy my 3rd stepmom. Shes really cool and all I am just totally lost. I did the obligatory Bath and Bodyworks stuff already so thats done got her some lotions and hand soaps (girly stuff you know) now I need a few more ideas. under or around 50.00 would be cool. She likes to golf and drink but I know nothing about golf nor do I drink so I find buying booze ...just not my thing. Sooooo any sugestions would be greatly apprieciated.
Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays to All.

Please no golf stuff because I dont know which brands or styles she uses, and I know how particular golfers can be...Id hate to get her something she'll never use or just doesnt like.

I want to know the best way about going for this so i dont get shot down. I work one full time job and one part time job. I put in a day-off request @ my part-time job to go to our Christmas party at my full time job. Apparently I put it in too late (even though i did put it in 2 1/2 weeks in advance) and they scheduled me. It is a busy holiday weekend and we are REALLY short handed...so getting a day off at this place basically never happens. The bosses here are REAL jerks and think eveyones life should revolve around that place. I already RSVP to our party, and it's at a really nice place. I HAVE to go. What is the best way to approach my jerk-of-a-boss in trying to get that Saturday off??

It's true, (what is?) we all close our eyes momentarily when we sneeze.

Do you think it's an inbuilt vanity thing so we don't see the gormless contortions we pull...?

so the next time you have your picture taken...try pretending to sneeze first....might look good on a passport photo.

Another co-worker and I are organizing our holiday party. We walked around the office telling everyone to pull a name and if it is their own to fold it and put it back in the bowl. One associtate pulled a name, my co-worker and I saw it say my name. She folds it back up and said it was hers. She pulled another name and said this one is ok. Should we call her on it?

It is so rude to answer a cellphone when you are having a conversation! One time i was talking to my friend in the car, she was driving, and then she got a call from her cellphone. The music was up, and she turned it all the way down. Then she shushed me and told me to keep it down. What do you think i should do about this?

Please enlighten me! I was at the mall for about four hours with my mom, who can't walk for very long due to back pain. We got her one of those big scooters with the basket on it (they are hard to ignore). We spent alot of time waiting for people to get out of the way. Then, to add insult to injury at least a dozen people actually walked right into the scooter she was using (seriously, I kid you not they didn't even say "excuse me" to her). As we were trying to get back to the place to take the scooter, people surrounded her and prevented her from moving for a few minutes. My mother was being polite not to run these people down, even though they sure deserved it.
People get out of the way for mothers with strollers but not for wheelchairs, it's just not right. People in wheelchairs aren't in them to get sympathy; they have feelings just like the rest of us. I would like to thank the two young men who knodded, smiled and said "Hi" to my mom. They really made her day!

Ok i've been thinkin about this for a few days now, tell me if you think its right. Ok you get arrested it you back talk a cop or cuss him out, you get suspended if you back talk or cuss out a teacher, but you can say anything to another student and get away with it . This kid at my school called me every name in the book so i punched him and even though i had like 6 witnesses to say he had called me all those names i got suspended and he got away with it. do you think there is a difference i mean we are all human and whether a cop a teacher or another student should you really be able to talk like that, its just not fair

Okay. You decide you disagree with someone's answer to just one question. So do you tell them and leave it at that? Apparently not, if you're like the weirdo who is going back through my questions and answers as I type this, systematically thumbing down every single one i've ever written!

What a stalking freak. It would be tragic if it wasn't so funny!

Anyone else had this experience yet?
