You are what you are and that isn't going to change. I assume that when you write that you grew up in a "posh white area" that you mean to imply that you have a good background and are upper-middle class. Why you would want to hide that is beyond me, but when trying to act like something you're not - you're only going to be seen as a poseur and it doesn't matter if you're black or white.

Don't try to act blacker, because there is not such thing. I grew up in a posh black neighborhood and I don't identify with white people. They throw stereotypes at me all the time and so do some black people, but that is not going to change who I am and how I grew up. I love me, the more confident you are the more they will have to respect you. They are just going to clown you if you try to act like something you're not. Do You!!!!

Just be yourself...that's all you can do. If you try to be "black" - you'll just be fitting into someone's stereotype, and you'll just anger those who grew up with different backgrounds than yours because you're pretending to be someone you're not. And if you make a big deal out of being "different" you'll never fit in, either. So learn to ignore the differences, and I'm sure those around you will be more tolerant, also.

Trust me, after growing up in a posh white area you do NOT want to move to a ghetto! Wake up.

I don't think that you can "act black". Maybe you can adopt some mannerisms of those involved in the "Hip Hop" community. Their speech, dress, and mannerisms are considered "black".

Don't be ashamed of who you are!

hahahahah why do you have to pretend to be anyone YOUR NOT! Please thast just plain ignorance. Just be yourself. If your around people who think otherwise and scream you "need to be more"black". I'd say you need to change the company you keep.
