I have just joined this site, and have found it helpful on some issues, but I am very dissapointed in the type of people who make glib remarks, such as saying you should buy season tickets for a man with a few months to live, or telling a 15 year old girl that she is clinically obese. I know that there are alot of young kids, just trying to be smart*****, but I think there is a time and place for some of these comments. Oh I agree that some of these questions are ridiculous and some are made up for the laugh effect. But some are not, some are serious problems. I think people should learn to tell the difference. What do you think?

There will always be people who find a need to humiliate and joke about other people's problems. Learning to ignore them is the best advice I could give. I've learned that some people have very low self confidence and one of the ways they try to make themselves feel better is by doing that. My husband has very low self confidence and as a result tries to build himself up by bragging. This turns people off alot. You will do just fine with this site. Just don't answer the ones you feel are trying to humiliate or joke about things you don't care for. (welcome to the site!)

Unfortunately, anonymity plays a big role in online help sites. It gives people the freedom to answer whatever they want, whether it's helpful or not. I think people generally know the difference between a serious problem and a non-serious problem, but they provide unhelpful, sometimes inappropriate, answers simply because they can. They just don't take responsibility for their answers. Just ignore these types of answers. When you get those few genuinely helpful advice, be happy that there are still people like this in the world.

There will always be ignorant and silly people out there. They are so empty inside, feeling badly about themself, that the only way they know how to survive is to poke fun at others, often in cruel ways. These are the ones who don't have serious relationships, not many friends, and probably poor careers. Or, they just never grew up. Just ignore them. You can't do anything about it....these people have problems beyond your reach. Trust me. Ignore it. They will eventually run out of "comebacks" and disappear into the world with nothing more to contribute to life. It's really quite sad if you think about it.

Some people like to bully (but they are wimps because they can hide behind their computer screen) while others sometimes do deserve a smart a-- reply since they either ask horrible questions or post the same question every week! I think people should be tactful, but if the asker is being absurd, they should be called on it!

I agree to a certain extent. If the situation is that serious than you don't need to get on the computer to a bunch of strangers and expect everyone to act accordingly. If everyone acted the way they should we wouldn't have jails or juvenile detentions. People can be ignorant and mean and if you want to fan your dirty laundry or life problems on the internet than you should do so very well understanding that you are going to received snide remarks and govern yourself accordingly. Ignore them or report them.

I will tell you what I think , people who do this they have problems , they dont think much of them selves to make fun of others , I saw one the other day that someone was really worried about their weight and someone said just die . You dont say things like this to people who are asking for answers . This is terrible . Its bad to make yourself feel good by hurting others , and there are so many people out there like this . God help if they ever do need help for them selves and some one answers to them like this .

I think that if you post on this forum, you should expect a full range of responses. There is no obligation to post only things that you think the other person will like to hear.

Some people feel awfully brave when they're protected by a monitor and a screen name, unfortunately.
