They are using the express email computer and basically talking loud, swearing at each other and belching. The libriarians don't say anything, I don't know if I should step in, ignore them or what to do?

I was leaving a recent Christmas work party and was shaking the hands of co-workers as I left. The majority of my co-workers are male. When I shook the hand of one of my female co-workers, she reluctantly shook it (barely clasping my hand) and it was obvious that she was uncomfortable by her body language and facial expressions. I confided in another female co-worker about what had happened and she said that it wasn't appropriate for me to have shaken her hand. Is this practice true in the workplace? Should I approach her and ask her if she is uncomfortable with shaking hands with people. I felt extremely uncomfortable afterwards and almost felt ashamed that I had violated her in some way. Any advice is welcome. I don't want this to happen again.

Far too many times now I have had communication problems with companies and individuals who do not listen to what is told them. A call centre guy was told to ask the engineeer to phone me as soon as he was outside our premises so I could let him in and show him what was needed to be done This was done with 2 witnesses by my side and the call centre guy agreed it would be done. Needless to say the engineer did not contact me and he went away saying nobody was there. This lack of attention must be costing industry millions of pounds or whatever currency you use. This is just one of many examples

Have you ever had to pee very badly while in a car? How long did you have to wait until you got to go to the bathroom? Why couldn't you go to the bathroom [couldn't find a gas station, driver refused to make a bathroom stop, stuck in traffic, ect...]?

being in business for himself my husband is closing his company for the week of christmas and not returning untill after the holiday , I'm filling in for the secretary who took off today and a supervisor for a home builder chewed me out cause I told him it would be Jan 2 before we could have someone there because we are closed for the holidays. He told me we couldn't close because people depend on our service. He got furious when he called on line two and I answered again. He started demanding to speak to the owner. He got so irrate with me and he ended up slamming the phone on me while I was appologizing to him for us having a full schedule today. My husband's company does stained and leaded glass restoration and repair. It's not like someone is going to die if thier stained glass window isn't fixed right away.

Why are mostly all black people grouped under the term 'African-American'? Not all black people are of African descent. They could be from Jamaica, Haiti, or many other places. So isn't it better to simply call the person black until you know? And then what? 'Carribean-American? All seems a bit silly.

And also- In Social Studies books, when it talks about the slave trade, the black slaves are called African-Americans. Isn't this incorrect? At that point, they were only African.

My brother is one of THOSE PEOPLE that are impossible to shop for. I need help. I'm into thoughtful gifts, so a gift card is not an option...until sunday..hehe. He is really into MAC computers, but already has 2 of them. He likes electronics, but I'm not too good at picking them out. He doesn't want anymore clothes. He said he's got enough. Any ideas out there? Anyone good with MAC computers, know of any accessories that would be good for him.. Oh, he is 20 yrs old. Please help me... :-) Merry Christmas!!
