Touchy subject here. I work in an office and share my space with a woman who has gas problems. Silent but deadly most of the time. Sometimes she has noisy flatulence and just says "Ooh!" This is a relatively young woman in her 40's. She's a larger woman so I thought maybe that could have something to do with it. My problem is that we have people pass through our office all day and it smells so bad in here it 's embarrassing! Not to mention torture on me, especially since I'm four months pregnant. When she toots out loud I just act like I don't hear it. I have mentioned on occasion in the last few weeks that since I have quit smoking and now pregnant my smelling senses have heightened. I thought she might get the hint. No such luck. How do you say something like "Buy some !@#$ gas-X please!" nicely?

an example: A small child sees a grandmother picking her nose, and being caught in an awkward situation the G'parent says:" I have no tissues". Now the child thinks it is ok to pick their nose because they never have any tissues around.Should the g'parent be blamed for the habit of the child?

another example: Let's say I just bought a hot new car.At lunch i'm bragging to friends about how well it handles thru some windy turns on a road that everyone knows. Now lets say an aquaintence overhears my braggard, and takes his family sedan thru the same windy turns and wrecks his car.

In each instance a bad habit made influence on someone else. The question is: should those who know of your "bad habit" chastise you for someone else picking up on it?

The man in the office next to ours digs through our trash, presumably looking for the newspaper. He never asks for it, he just waits until we throw it away and then sneaks into the trash can. It drives me crazy because I don't know what else he might be trying to do, if he's trying to find financial documents also or what. So, is there a law against this? What do I do?

If neither shame on you! I hate it when people cough/sneeze into their hands. Don't they know that they then spread their germs to everything they touch?

My best friend is my ex s-i-l, and the whole family has extended warm invitations to my fiancee. It's not like my ex will be there. If that was the case, I wouldn't even be attending.

I am really struggling with this one. I just found out, yesterday, that the relative who is insisting on hosting our traditional Christmas Eve has ordered everyone to bring their own meats for a barbecue! I'm already done shopping. I expected the hosting to be gracious and hospitable, like I and other are when we host. My husband and I feel really weird about this; there will undoubtedly be a variety of each-his-own fare, which striked me as potentially-uncomfortable. We feel like the menu is a message that it's all an inconvenience (and there's a history of the hostess being a self-centered beotch). We're thinking of declining to send the message with our actions, but it would hurt some feelings. Is this just me overly-projecting my opinions and wishes, or would you feel the same way? Any ideas on how to handle it?

Last week my friend gave me a gift. Earlier in the week I was joking around saying nobody gets me anything, especially for my birthday since it's in the summer. When she gave me the gift, she mentioned how she felt bad. It was a bottle of shimmer lotion. Later on, I was looking at the bag, and the tag on it said another name. Should I mention this to my friend, or just let it go?

I have noisey upstias neighbors. They vaccuum, do laundry, have kids screaming and running around all past 10 o'clock at night, sometimes until 2 in the morning. I think it is inconsiderate when the washing machine is bouncing around while I am trying to sleep. Any suggestions as to how to approach them without making enemies?

PS. they live on the top floor so I am not sure if they realize the level of noise they make.

How long you have to wait for a thank you. I sent the gift two days ago, emailed to find out if it was received and if the person liked it. No answer. Should I wait until after the holiday?

Down the street, a manipulative neighbor who always snubs me when she is mad at our mutual friend. Our mutual friend is a very simple minded innocent person who doesn't really do anything wrong to Ms. Manipulative Hypochondriac. Eventually Ms. Innocent forgives Ms. Manipulative but now I am still being snubbed by the manipulative one and the mutual friend says I have to "be nice." Say what? How am I involved in this at all? All I am is associated with Ms. Innocent. Now even my child is being treated rudely... and honestly it is our association with Ms. Innocent who truly is dumb and innocent, that Ms. Hypochondriac does not like. I have to live on this street and it's getting very uncomfortable. I despise this hypochondriac now, just because of this stupid behavior.

Is it proper to send a thank you note when you only recieved a Christmas card from someone (no money in the card otherwise that would be a definate yes)?

I do not send out Christmas cards myself so it's not like they would get one from me in return so do I need to send a thank you note for the card and them thinking of me?

I can tell immediately when I've been regifted. I know I've recieved some junk that was given to someone else, and I hate it, I consider it a great insult to my intelligence. Like I can figure out most of the time that I've been regifted. Now if you recieved two Nintendo Wii's and want to regift it to me, I haven't got a problem with that! Merry Christmas everyone!

I can't stand it when people leave their shoppping carts in a good parking spot when it isn't ever 20 feet away from the cart collection area. It is ignorant and sheer laziness.
