Touchy subject here. I work in an office and share my space with a woman who has gas problems. Silent but deadly most of the time. Sometimes she has noisy flatulence and just says "Ooh!" This is a relatively young woman in her 40's. She's a larger woman so I thought maybe that could have something to do with it. My problem is that we have people pass through our office all day and it smells so bad in here it 's embarrassing! Not to mention torture on me, especially since I'm four months pregnant. When she toots out loud I just act like I don't hear it. I have mentioned on occasion in the last few weeks that since I have quit smoking and now pregnant my smelling senses have heightened. I thought she might get the hint. No such luck. How do you say something like "Buy some !@#$ gas-X please!" nicely?

I suggest to "kindly" discuss this problem with her. Let her know that the smell is causing you distress with your pregnancy. Some ppl can not help having excessive gas....but she should at least respect her coworkers! Put a glade plug-in in your office to help the smell. If she refuses to correct this matter after you have approached her...I would talk to my supervisor....this is affecting their business...no customer wants to smell something like that when they enter a business.

This might not be the best way, but buy some and either wrap it up & give it to her or next time she has an 'incident' give her a couple. And say something like 'It happens to all of us.' Sometimes people just can't help it. But man what a stress on the person who works close to them at least she could step into the bathroom or something. She might be embarrassed when you give her gas x but she would get the point & it’s better to take care of this problem now before you start have customers complain!

sounds like a tricky hygene issue.
If subtle hints don't work,do the obvious.....
buy her some Gas-X and leave it on her blotter, front & center. If its gone on long enough to bother everyone, and she hasn't even acknowledged her obvious flatulence, then you have every right in my view.Being polite is a 2-way street.

Not a word has to be said, she'll get it then.

If she hasnt got the hint yet then maybe you should just say it rudely. She may then get the hint, dont be quiet but BOLD and she will get embarrassed and get some meds for her issues.

You should be frank with her. Plug in an air freshener. I would tell her it is very difficult to bear. Can't she hold it in? She doesn't care about your feelings...
