im doing an assignment 4 my english class and we have 2 write a persuasive letter to the government about what we most care about. Of course it's not real but it's 4 my final first quarter grade and i'm doing stereotypes. Does anybody know when and how stereotypes started?

ps: can somebody tell me if i were to write this letter about stereotyping, exactly who should i write it too?

I see all these television personalities wearing it on the left side of the sternum, and all this time, I've been wearing it on the right. Does it really matter?

I think its an excellent idea. There is no need for anyone to wear this form of dress in England. When in Rome do as the Romans do!!!!!!

Ok so I am walking on the street listening to my IPOD and I am obviously not paying 100% attention to whats going on. Plus I got a huge headache from waking up and took an advil so I totally feel like a computer. This guy is riding on his bike and crashed into me(to his defense I doubt he saw me) but still what the hell is he doing on a pedestrian walkway in the first place. Anyway I decide to play it cool and keep walking even though he was close to breaking my arm if he wasnt going a few miles more. So he catches up to me and asks are u all right? I sarcastically respond: Yeah my arm aint broke I am fine. I either mistook his intentions or he realized its all cool and decided to push me a little so he rudely said: How about asking me if i am all right? U should watch where u are f...ing going. I got pissed and told him that he should be lucky I am not American otherwise I would charge him. He muttered something and rode off. So is this crap in any way my fault or he is just insane?

I ran into someone on the street today, and he asked me for directions. His was angry that the directions he had been given were wrong, and volunteered the information that he didn't have time to waste. He has inoperable pancreatic cancer, and has about two months to live. I said "well that's never nice to hear", and gave him proper directions. As he crossed the street I said "take care" and he said "I haven't got much longer anyway".
Now, I don't know that person, but it brought me back to when a close relative was dying of cancer, and we'd visit her in pallitive care. I didn't quite know what to say to her either.
So what is appropriate to say when someone is dying? They know they are going soon, so there's really no "cheering up" to be done. No "get well" cards, no plans for the future. I wrote my relative a card, and told her that once she left she would be as she was before getting sick. Other family members said it was a sad card....well what should I have said?

When something happens but you don't find it funny, do you laugh anyways?

To either be polite, or to fit in, or so other people don't feel bad. I don't find a lot of stuff funny, even though everyone else thinks its hilarious.

Maybe I don't have a good sense of humour, does this make me a bad person?

Do you read or write on the bathroom stalls? What do you think about it? Is there anything you have read that is particularly funny?

This is for a school newspaper, please keep it clean. Danke.

Racial infractions have a much, much more severe penalty at my school. But it usually is white kids calling racial slurs towards others (example: "ni**er", "towelheads", "slants", "wetbacks")

Interested in your opinions.

Under what circumstances can talking behind someone's back be justified? What happens if I'm scared of telling someone the truth, because it can hurt their feelings, then is it okay? Or is it never okay, no matter what?

I have a neighbor who loves to blast off the horn on his pickup truck, especially at me. I don't think he means anything by it, but the problem is, his horn is loud!! It's one of those air horns- much louder than the average automotive horn. It once scared me so bad, I almost lost control of my car while he and I were driving past each other on our street. How do I address the problem? He doesn't get it when I explain this to him, and other neighbors have complained about it as well.

I just recently found a couple of checks that my in-law wrote for our anniversary and for Christmas, I asked my husband to see if his dad would rewrite the checks and he said that it isn't proper to ask someone to do that.
He is in his late 50's and from the east coast, I am in my early 40's and from the west coast.

My friend and I had planned a road trip for this morning. We were supposed to be leaving at 6:30 am. I was supposed to be working the graveyard shift last night ending at 7:30 this morning, I called in sick because I couldn't find anyone to trade the shift with. Well it's 8 0'clock at she's still not here yet. I am just so peeved right now. She just called to say that she woke up at 6:30 ( the time that we should be leaving).
