I would say 70-30 his fault. You should really pay more attention when walking along listening to an ipod, it annoys me when you have to take avoiding action to miss some ipodite. But then again heshould notbe riding on the pavement. He was lucky you did not knock him out. many a time i have contemplated "clotheslining" amad cyclist on the path. As yet I have not but...........watch this space.

As an outsider looking in, I'd say you're both at fault. Having a headache and listening to an IPOD meant you weren't paying attention as you should. You stated you were walking on the street and later said a pedestrian walkway, so it's not certain where you were when you were hit. That said, the bike rider should also be paying attention and thus was partially to blame.
He deserves credit for trying to see if you were ok...and didn't take it well that you were sarcastic in response. Both of you could easily have been hurt, so count your blessings and try to forget it happened.

I do not know about where you live, but our community has a law against bicycles on the sidewalk. It is not enforced because of the street runoff gratings, the are all perpendicular to the sidewalk, and a danger to a cyclist. And for other reasons.
:aws aside, you probably both should have said something, it is just polite. But you could have said something to the effect that are you OK? Now that I am sure you are, you know you are not supposed to be on the sidewalk riding that bike.
Yes, he was in the wrong, being on the sidewalk, and saying anything beyond are you OK, except an appology, was wrong of him. And he was probably trying to put the blame off on you. The delay between the accident, and him catching up to you was probably the planning time to do just that, blame you..

Your frankness in admitting you had a headache, etc makes me lean toward your side. However, that is not my true reason for supporting you.
He had absolutely no reason for riding on the sidewalk. It is a "sidewalk" not a "bike" lane. People are suposed to walk there. He was wrong all the way, in my book. There are laws and they are not for some but for all.
Yes, he should have gone on his way, if he had no good intention for coming back. He merely wanted to prod you and cuss you too.
It is best to forget about him. He would meet the right one eventually and get exactly what he deserves for being so inconsiderate

He should not have been on a walkway and it's not one bit your fault. I just tend not to argue with people like that because you can't get anywhere. Once I was on the sidewalk walking minding my own bussiness when a man screamed at me: "I got a KID!!!!!" (he was riding a bike with his son as a passenger). I said "that's your lane and pointed to the BIKE LANE. He shouted "I have a Kid"!!!!! These people think the world revolves around them and nothing you say or do will change that so I try to say as little as possible.

You're both obviously nutters. He makes a good point, you should have been concerned with his welfare too. However, you're right, he shouldn't have been on the walkway. This is one of those situations where you both should just shrug/laugh it off, make sure you're both ok, and continue on your way paying more attention to what is going on around you.

While he shouldn't have been riding on the sidewalk, he was nice enough to see if you were hurt. You were rude first for no reason--he obviously didn't mean to hit you. Anyway the "crap" is over, so don't dwell on it.

okay, lets say it was his fault. he was polite enough to ask if you were okay, and youre rude and snarky back. id say he made a mistake and you were a jerk about it. but we all have bad days
besides which, at least in my state, it is not illegal to ride your bike on the sidewalk, so he wasnt doing anything wrong technically

So let me get this straight...idiotboy was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk??? He's at fault. Bicycles are vehicles just like cars and motorcycles and should be ridden IN THE ROAD, not on the sidewalk.
I'm glad neither of you were injured, be sure you always are aware of your surroundings!
