I work as a receptionist and i do a lot of school work during work hours. This is fine with my boss and everything. But people always feel the need to come up to me and start pointless conversations while im trying to concentrate. If its work related i dont mind but its usually something stupid

You don't need to go no where, stay at your desk since the boss is fine with it. Tell others, I'm busy and I'll talk to you when I get a minute. Failing the class would be your fault, not theirs.

Being social is part of the job. You'll have to do what you can and finish studying on your own time.

If your boss will let you get headphones....do that. People seem less inclined to chit-chat with someone who's wearing headphones. But that may effect how you're viewed at work in a negative fashion.

Unless you feel comfortable enough explaining to them that you really need the study time when your work duties aren't needed, then I don't really see any other reasonable solution to this problem. After all, you're being paid to be at work, and they, not having anything else they wish to do with their "down time" are going to hassle you.

uhh.. dont study in front of them. you got a receptionist job so that people can come up to you and ask you questions. dont be bitter about the fact that you picked the wrong job.

Perhaps your colleagues are not aware of the fact that you have serious studying to do? If not, then perhaps let them know, and I'm sure they will be more than happy to comply with your request. Perhaps they are disturbing you because they assume that you, like them are bored?

Simple answer is do not answer or react to any of there action and in few days u are all alone. Not reacting to their talk make them feel a bit uneasy about u and they wont talk to again.

You need to leave your desk and find a quiet place somewhere else. A work room, conference room or even a nearby library.
