I suddenly have 17 people coming for Thanksgiving. I can't fit 17 in my dining room. How and where can I set up tables so that people don't feel segragated from the people in the dining room? I don't want the last minute people to feel as if I have stuck them in a corner somewhere

this about you...(".whatever it is)....Now...you just said..."oh, really?"...later you go and ask THAT VERY PERSON????DID you say this about me?....the person says.."why would i say that?"..i don't know you that well"....NOW QUESTION: WHO WOULD YOU BELIEVE...(one is obviously an instigator and one is unknowing)...should you go back to the first person and say,,'SHE SAID SHE DID NOT SAY SUCH A THING?"...OR just "let it go"????...i realize this is petty...

When I visit my grandma, she gives me food, which helps me because I'm in college. I always send her thank you notes but don't know what to do with the food I don't like. I either give it to my family or donate it to charity and keep what I like. I don't want to say anything to her because that seems rude. Is it?

My boss forgot to tell the guest speaker for our breakfast meeting this morning that the meeting was cancelled. She showed up at the restaraunt where we were supposed to meet and the doors were locked. She called the office and left a message on our answering machine that she didn't know what to do. When he called her he apologized profusely but still feels very bad about not notifying her. He found out later that she was on personal leave as well and was going to speak at our meeting anyway. He's afraid if he tries to send a gift to her house she may not be home because she took leave for the holidays. Any suggestions on what he can do to make up?

What do you do if you are out on the street, badly need to go to the bathroom, and you encounter a store with a 'restrooms for cusomers only' sign? Do you buy something you don't need, just to use the toilet? Or do you beg the salesperson to let you use the restroom, even though you're not a customer? What if they don't let you use the bathroom?

I have received a complain just a few minutes ago...said something about loud fighting and music late at night...says we are to keep conversations in our apartment at a low tone. I feel like i am living in a library. If i get complained about one more time I will get kicked out.

The chinese neighbor of mine..he is playing michael jackson right now..really loudly. And there has been another time where he has peeked in my window. Should i complain about them or should i let this rest?

Should i sublease this place? I know it's not a good idea to, i have until March for mylease to go up. I am so mad.

I was just wondering how common this is. He's of a generation older than me, so I was thinking it's a cultural thing. It kind of makes me feel uncomfortable, but if it's common practice, then I can get over it. But I sort of feel like it's a little more than that.

Okay I work in an office setting. The guy whose desk is next to mine is really loud when he's on the phone and it really distracts and bothers me. I don't know how to tell him to be quieter without sounding mean. Should I just sit back and learn to deal with it (thank god he's not in that much) or should I try to approach it and how? (no rude answers please)

My daughter is in a play (musical). She is not the lead person but one on the main characters. I really havent been to many plays and it starts on Dec.1. I am so proud of her. Do the actors sometimes get flowers after the play and if so, what kind/how many. I don't want to embarrass her. Oh, this is a high school play but many people from the community are in it.

There's this guy who lives a few houses down from our house. He's like in his 80's and lives alone, but something about him creeps me out. Maybe it's the way that he never comes outside except when the Catholic School for Girls is over. He usually comes out at that time and sits in his porch, then when all the girls are gone he goes back in. I don't know, maybe I'm the only one that has noticed that.

I get frustrated with all the racial tension that exists in our society. There seems to be a double standard as to what is socially acceptable.
I do not use negative words to address people of other ethnic backgrounds. I feel that is very rude and disrespectful. . Furthermore, I expect to be retreated with the same respect that I show towards others. Yet, I constantly hear the word "cracker" being used by some of my black friends. This upsets me very much! I feel that if someone asks to be respected, they must respect others in return.
When I confronted him for using the word, I was told that I was over-reacting and that the word was being used in a non-offensive- joking context. I asked how he would feel if I jokingly threw the word ****** into our conversation? He didn't see the homor.
Am I the only one who feels that it is unacceptable to be called a cracker?

For Christmas, I mean. He is 20 and will be coming over for Christmas with his relatives this year. We don't know him very well and have only seen him 3 times in his life. All we know is he has moved around a lot, dresses pretty grungy and doesn't do much (doesn't work). I know that sounds bad but that's pretty much all the info I have on him.

Me and my boyfriend have been together for almost a year. I didnt meet his mother until i got pregnant (Im 7 months). I barely met one aunt of his 2 days ago (He only has 2 aunts). We had planned on going to thanksgiving at my parents house because it has been years since i have spent it with my family. We had asked his mom to join us so she wouldnt be alone she said yes. Her and the sister that i have barely met always are in some kind of argument. Where she tells my boyfriend dont talk to your aunt because of this or that. Today she just asked if it would be ok to bring along her sister. My boyfriend replied with a firm no. She didnt stop there she asked me. I said i would ask my mom. I then talked it over with my boyfriend and he said a definite no. My question is how do i say no to her? I dont want to be a push over where i say yes to everything she asks. How do i put my foot down in a nice way?
