If I was in a position to, yes, I would.

Yes, but not every one.

My hubby and I took in a homeless young man for a time, and we fed him and included him in family things, and tried to help him find a job. He isn't here any more because he wouldn't follow the house rules - no drinking or drugs on the property; letting us know if he would be missing for meals or gone overnight.

He was, really, a pretty good kid, and he enthusiastically helped with fixing the house up. It's too bad that he couldn't abide by the house rules.

We don't regret having done what we did, but I don't think we'll do it again.

Some people choose to be homeless, and will take advantage of you. Others are homeless through no fault of their own, or because of a bad choice. I would be very careful, but wouldn't rule it out under the right circumstances, for instance a single woman living alone would be foolish to take any man she didn't know into her home.

I know a person who brought a homeless lady into her house. She did not speak English and they had trouble communicating. One day she got angry and just got up and disappeared. Nobody ever saw her again and nobody even knows where she is now. I wouldn't let him stay in my house, but I would give him some food to eat. I am only a student, I can't afford to have someone else live with me.

I wouldn't let some random guy come and live in my house unless I knew him, and I'd only give him a job if I knew he would be committed to it. The sad thing is though, a lot of them aren't trying to get a job or a better life for themselves, and are fine with living off the streets.

I let two homeless men live in my garage for a month. One took advantage of the situation and saved his money (they were working day labor) to save for an apartment. The other started dealing drugs and stole all my Christmas ornaments. So while I was very touched by the first one's gratitude, I was obviously soured by the experience and my girlfriend made me promise I wouldn't do it again.

If I had the resources to do that I would. I believe there are many good people out there, they just haven't been given a chance. Sometimes that is all they need is a chance. It is too bad that society is so concerned with themselves. The ones really missing out are the ones who don't take the time to look for the wonderful in everyone.

Not unless I knew him well. I wouldn't set anyone up with a job or a place to stay if they were a complete stranger since I couldn't vouch for them. I would give them leads but I couldn't really be used as a reference.

After my husband managed a labor joint for several years, I have to say no. I would give someone a job, if I had a business but I would not open my home to a stranger simply because I've seen and heard WAYYYY too much.

There are places that do that as long as they are willing to be clean and adhere to a certain set of rules to get them back on their feet. It's a matter of self-control, and a willingness to be in a better situation than you're in, and doing whatever it takes to get there.
