I have received a complain just a few minutes ago...said something about loud fighting and music late at night...says we are to keep conversations in our apartment at a low tone. I feel like i am living in a library. If i get complained about one more time I will get kicked out.

The chinese neighbor of mine..he is playing michael jackson right now..really loudly. And there has been another time where he has peeked in my window. Should i complain about them or should i let this rest?

Should i sublease this place? I know it's not a good idea to, i have until March for mylease to go up. I am so mad.

Talk to your landlord.

Apartment living sucks. Management in large apartment complexes also dont give a rats butt about anything but receiving their rent check. They will listen to you complain but they wont do anything after that.

Best solution to the michael jackson music neighbor. Call your local police/sheriff and report a "Disturbance of the Peace " and also you can tell them you want to remain annonomous. Dont give the police your name or apt number because 9 outta 10times they will go to your apartment to talk to you, then your neighbor will know it was you that called on them.

Close your blinds, especially at night so people cant peek in your window. Also, hang shear curtains under the blinds- you will be able to see out but others have a difficult time seeing in.

Read your lease agreement. All the ones I have ever signed specify NO subleasing the apartment.

To all the people that are insisting quiet time is after 10, that law changed a few years ago. Disturbance of the Peace can be reported ANY time of the day or nite.

I would wait, cool down for a while, then approach the manager in a very calm, upbeat way...tell the manager that you are confused about the rules because of your Jackson fan next door, and ask if there is a consistent policy for everyone. Ask about the specific times, dates, and nature of the complaints and who is doing the complaining. Do they have any proof? Remain calm and professional. Suggest some sort of sound barrier and make it clear that you have been trying to be quiet, but obviously this neighbor must have some special sensitivities.

Remember that no rental manager can just "kick you out" - they have to go to court to evict you. So you will at least have a chance to plead your case. Document everything. Keep all notices, etc.

I know four months sounds like a lot, but you can hang in there til March. You'll have a hard time subletting for such a short time. Start looking for a new place now but don't tell your manager you're looking.

p.s. And about the peeper, if he does it again, forget the manager - CALL THE POLICE. That's the best way to prevent another peep.

Is the complaint valid? If so....then YOU need to change. Living in an apartment means respecting the people around you - which definitely means no loud music late at night.

If the complaint isn't valid, then go to the apartment manager and talk about it. Are you having a disagreement with a neighbor who wants to get you kicked out?

As for the peeping-Tom/loud music neighbor. Try one friendly chat - hey, that's pretty loud, mind turning it down. If that works, great. If he looks in your window again, or turns the music back up, then definitely complain.

And forget subletting - it's almost never a good idea. You take on too much risk that way.

You dont say if you were actually making all this noise so I can only assume it was true.
There are what is considered 'quiet hours' usually between 9pm and 7 am, dependng on your rental agreement. Since you do live an apartment, you do have to have consideration for the people areound you. I know it sucks because you want to be able to live as you choose, but you also chose to live in an apartment complex close to other people.
Consider the quiet hours. If they inhibit you so much, then you should make plans to move and get a house. And dont sub lease. Most apartments dont allow that and whatever damage is done will be your responsiblity.

Just make sure you aren't making any noise after 10:00 pm and not before 8:00am

But if you make noise any other time, you have to be willing to accept noise from the other people.

Really nobody should make any noise, unless you know that all the neighbors are not home and won't be home for a while.

If you live in an apartment, then you have to consider it like a library or move into a house.

There is nothing you can do, either be quiet or make noise and put up with noise, but not between the quiet hours set by the law.

1. Complain to the COPS about the neighbor spying in the window, then the apt for the noise!
2. What are you doing in there that is getting complaints...would it irritate you if someone else did it?
Talk to your landlord and see if you can work something out.

Any apartment is going to ask you not to yell and to keep the music at a reasonable volume at reasonable hours. If you follow those rules (and common courtesies) then there shouldn't be a problem. Why do you keep breaking the rules?

I would suggest sucking it up, keeping quiet, and moving in March. Of course, no matter where you move you will still be forced to be considerate of others living near you.

I feel your pain, the ONLY thing that has ever worked for me is a product call flea, it's in a white plastic bottle with red writing on it, like a white bleach bottle. It's only sold at Home Depot. It has a spray attachment to it. It's safe to spray of carpets and your furniture, and it won't harm your pets. I even used it around my baby kittens. Don't walk, run and get this stuff. It's never failed me.Hope this helps.

Don't complain about others just to get back at them. Just lower your music late at night. If its that big of a problem, let them kick you out. It will take them months to get you out by the time they serve you eviction papers, take you to court, in that time you can work on finding a new place and leave when you are ready.
