I remember reading somewhere about this. That books from a personal collection are usually given away and not lent. Any idea where this tradition comes from?

I have gotten threatening messages from someone at Yahoo Answers. She is threatening with turning me in for harassment. I have no idea who she is nor have I ever even answered any of her questions. Does anyone know what could be going on?

I have been here for about a year, and I am amazed at how unscrupulous many of them can be. Lying just doesn't seem so difficult to them for some reason. Perhaps it is because they are without a judeo-christian ethic: thou shalt not lie. I'm agnostic, but telling the truth just seems the right thing to do.

Would you mind (at all) if it were me who inherited it. I don't mean to be tiresome and please don't think I'm being pushy but I think I deserve it.
If that's all right with you...

Hi if your wondering why Im not in school I am. Im in the library supposedly doing research but instead using the wireless internet to ask questions on my laptop (lol) Anyway I was with my mom and younger brother recently doing some shopping for Fall cloths when we ran into one of the teachers in my school with a child that probably was her daughter or son. After small talk that involved not referring to the child that was with her, she wanted to know where the sale racks were for leftover Summer clothing. My mom avoided the problem by asking me to take them to the sale racks. The boy's cloths on sale were in one area of the store and the girl's cloths in another area of the store. I looked at the child closely to try to determine its gender and decided it was a boy from the way it was dressed but settled on referring to it as a girl. He was a boy and became agitated that I referred to him as a girl. I apologized but there was embarrsement all around.

I lost my father 2 months ago. On the same day an acquaintance tragically lost her teenage son. As of yet, I have not sent a sympathy card to the parents. They are also aware of my family's loss. Is it too late to send a card now?? As a follow up, what kind of wording do you write to someone who has suffered such a tragedy?
Thanks for your help.

If I complain about my job, people say I should go to school and get a better one, etc. Don't those spoiled people realize that is everyone had big jobs then there wouldn't be anyone to work as cashiers to check them out at the stores, pick up their garbage, clean up after them , serve their food, etc? People are really spoiled and seem to think the lower wage earners are not as good as they are. When the garbage men went on strike in our city, the place was a mess, when the grocery clerks when on strike, I noticed. SHouldn't people have a little more consideration for the hardworking people who get paid very little to wait on them? I hate to hear when some business person is complaining about being tired. Tired? They sit on their butts all day while as the rest of us are on our feet for 9 hours with no break or anything, coming to work when we are well or sick (no sick pay) so why do they complain??

I live near a construction site and they're always wondering off. Sometimes I'll find them asleep on my lawn. Sometimes I'll find them just standing out there, an inch from my wall, staring at the siding. It's kinda weird. Usually I just spray them with the hose... is there a better way?

Why do people come into a store 5 minutes before it is closing when they know what they came in for will take longer? This is annoying to those of us who work in retail and would like to get home at decent time. After the store closes, we have to close registers, clean up, etc, which takes about an hour. When we have customers coming in at the last minute not knowing what they want and asking a hundred questions, it gets annoying. Sure you can say it is our job, but the customer is not always right, if they were, most stores would be out of business from the shoplifting some "customers" do. This happens on the weekend as much as weeknights and people have the whole day to do stuff so why wait till the last minute? People should only come in at thelast minute if they want to make a quick purchase, not to order a room of furniture, a computer system, or other services that take time to process.

My 14 year old son spends almost two hours a day on the school bus. They have assigned seats and he is seated next to a 15 year old boy with very poor hygiene. My son doesn't want to bother the driver and ask to change seats because the bus is already crowded and she (the driver) has enough problems with rowdy kids. The boy is a foster child and I have thought about approaching the foster parents, but nobody wants to embarass this boy. I suggested we make up a care package with some body wash, deoderant, a nice binder and maybe a cool shirt. We can drop the package addessed to him anonomously at his home. Again I do not want to offend or hurt this child in anyway. What do you think?

The end of a weeklong bridal fair/exhibit held in a local hotel had come. The exhibitors (I was one of them) were told by the hotel management to pack up at 8 that night. Early that day I left my car in the repair shop and won't be able to drive it for 2 weeks. During the dismantling of the props, I asked a fellow designer if I could leave my wedding gown and dressform in his shop (because his shop was just across the hotel) for the meantime as I was going to be without a car for 2 weeks. He voluntarily agreed after I told him I'll get them back when the car's fixed.
The next week, my local designer club held a meeting to evaluate our participation in the recently-held exhibit. My colleagues in the business all chorused that I had the most hideous-looking dressform as it was made of papier mache.
One week later, I drove to this designer's shop to get my things back. I was shocked to hear that he had thrown away my papier mache dressform! His reason: "Everybody said it was ugly.".....

She never had children. She is always complaining that she has to pay property taxes for schools and never buys anything when she does look at the books. However, I have shown it to the two other girls in the office and I don't want to hurt her feelings if I don't show it to her. What do you guys think? Would you show it to her or not?
