I lost my father 2 months ago. On the same day an acquaintance tragically lost her teenage son. As of yet, I have not sent a sympathy card to the parents. They are also aware of my family's loss. Is it too late to send a card now?? As a follow up, what kind of wording do you write to someone who has suffered such a tragedy?
Thanks for your help.

No, it is not too late. If you think about your own loss, you will realize that they are probably still mourning their son, just as you are still mourning your father. I think they will appreciate your kind sympathy, spoken from experience. Send the card.

As far as the wording, you can simply express your care and consideration for the family. Something like the following would work for me. You'll want to use your own words, though, so it seems more authentic:
"I am so sorry for your loss. It's very difficult to lose a beloved family member. I want to let you know that I care about you and am thinking about you at this difficult time."

As you say it is an aquaintance rather than close friend, then an appropriate card, with a message of sympathy and a brief apology. A year of mourning used to be appropriate, but know we live such hetic lives that when we loose someone we love their is sympathy at first then everyone expects after the funeral for it to go back to "normal" I think they will appreciate you card and the fact that others are still aware of their recent and tragic loss. My sympathy to you also.

It is never too late to express sympathy. When you send the card, don't get all flowery. If they know of your loss, they will understand how difficult this is for you.
"I was so sorry to hear of your loss. It is tragic when someone like ( fill in name) dies so young. My heart goes out to you."
That's all you need to say in a card.
My condolences to both families.

It's never too late to send condolences. Just think about what you wanted people to say to you in your time of lose. I know someone who lost their 8 yr. old son. I made sure I told the family that I was there for them if they needed to talk or for anything.

A card with an exceedingly short message could be great. "expensive Mrs Smith, Bobby advised me the sorrowful information approximately his great uncle. i'm so sorry. just to help you comprehend i'm thinking of you all. basically, Annie." no longer something extra is mandatory or predicted. Even that may not; in spite of the fact that it rather is going to likely be welcomed . EDIT: No truffles or something. Sounds as though the comprehensive-uncle died far-off, so it rather is not as in the experience that your boyfriends' mom is having to handle dozens of mourners coming to circulate to. From you, a incredibly short-term lady buddy of her son, a quick written message would be fullyyt appropriate.

..........we all know that everyone has to go sometime, at times before time, but we always feel that this happens to others, So, when this happens to us, we feel cheated. While keepin g the memory of the dead in a special cornr in our heart, we must remember that we have duties to perform for the living.

It's never too late. Just write what you feel, and it will be well received. Don't worry.

PS sorry for your loss.
