No it is NOT fair! Do you know all of the laughs you are missing out on!?!?!?!?!? LOL I think you should allow it! and if it stinks too much in there you can always roll down the window for a few secs! Lighten up and stop and smell the farts!

I have the no farting and the no sneezing rule in my car. If we are on a trip that is longer than 45 minutes we will get out and take a break and then everyone can do all of the farting that they need to. I don't even fart in my own car when I am driving alone.

I think it is fair as long as you're alone in the car, but I would suggest the rule to be " No Farting when someone is around "

Hi. in my opinion, i feel this rule is not quite fair. Farting or flatulence is just part of the human biology of releasing gas produced by chemical reaction during food digestion. Therefore it is natural and no one can stop it from happening. It's just like having a rule " DON'T SNEEZE IN MY CAR"... i wonder what if YOU yourself felt like farting. and maybe that day u probably ate beans for lunch. Would you stop every 20 minutes to let out your gas. Please be rational. if someone farts. just open the window and let the bad air out. Thank you.

Well its not fair cause holding farts in can hurt your stomach and cause problems later on in life. However it is fair if you ask people to roll down the window after someone has farted.

Not only is it not fair, it is rude. Since you asked this in the etiquette section, you get the etiquette answer.

One is assumed not to be in control of flatulence. Anyone saying anything about it, including the "culprit," is rude. Everyone is supposed to politely pretend that it never happened.

This is different from a burp, which one is assumed to be in control of, and requires an "excuse me."

I don't make the rules, but I know about them!

I wouldn't make a hard core rule about this. Try to go with the air flow, lower the window when needed.

It's hard to prevent when you have to.... fart. you just have to advise to open the window if somebody fart. for the smell to be out of your car.
