So, I'll be a college freshman in 2 weeks, and I know that everyone will be trying to make a good impression, often using a fake personality. How can I make a good impression, without coming off like everybody else? (don't tell me to be myself, actual tips please!)

it makes me look like skateboard to be cool. i love skateboarding. skateboarding is my top number one sport out of 7 sports. skateboarding is almost my life. i've met quite a lot of pro.s and been to demos, but i don't make myself look like a skater. i wear sporty clothes and i wear clothes from footlocker and ghetto rags(sag pants and bigs shirts). i have a bunch of earing especially diamonds. i do what i want to do. all the labels at school come up to me and say i can't skate just because i have no style for it. so what?

I have this "friend", who forwards all these ridiculous e-mails to me. chain leters, stupid jokes, and most recently, anti-Mel Gibson mail (she is jewish). She has done this in the past. I have asked her nicely to stop, and she did, but now she has started again. I get ten to twenty a day?????

What would you do?

I wonder if people really mean whatever they say in front of the term just joking? I feel like they mean what they say and just say just joking so the wont get in trouble or actually have to do what they just said. Anybody agree and do you think people should hold them accountable? Is the just joking phrase a cop out?

If you have attended a chruch for a long time, lets say 20 years since you were child, and you are going to get married. I heard that you were supposed to pay the preacher for performing the wedding. I thought that was part of his job and that was what the church was paying him to do. I remmeber when we hired him that on the job discription it included weddings and funerals. So why do I have to pay him extra for doing his job? I have given to that church ever since i had a job so I don't see why have pay him more.

I have a roommate coming today from Oklahoma (I'm in Texas) and he's going to be moving in. However, by the time he gets here, I will be at a memorial service (last minute thing that came up) He was worried about the key. He suggested that an ex lover of his come and get the key from me and that he would get the key from him so that it would give him an opportunity to "work things out". I told him I didn't feel comfortable giving my apartment key to someone I didn't know, and that I'd rather leave the key here with my g/f who will give him the key in exchange for the rent money and write him out a receipt. He didn't like that idea and got all mad that I would deny him the opportunity to patch things up with his ex, using the key as a reason for them to get to talk to each other. I just didn't feel comfortable with the idea and he kept pushing and finally I was just like "look, I'M not the one looking for a place to live. Do you think you could be a little LESS demanding?"

If my elders in my family were not very respectful to me as a child, and did not model good behaviour, and my childhood had many gaps of socialization lessons -- what kind of crash course may I take so that I can learn how to trust elders and be more humble? I'm asking this only from people who come from countries where the elders are still honoured.

Do you stand in between them to go to the one open next?

Or do you just pick one.

Me, I wait in between...you know, being next and all...

Then someone just jumps in. Drives me nuts.

We have a lot of blacktop country roads here; they're in pretty good repair, but they normally have no shoulder, and no margin for error.

These roads are posted anywhere from 45 to 55 (!), and, because the area in question is rolling piedmont, it takes a little concentration to drive them safely.

I do the speed limit, weather permitting, or within a couple mph of it. And, this really pisses a lot of other drivers off. Sure, I pull over and let them around me, BUT: (here's the question): WHY is it necessary to fly 10 to 20 mph OVER the already rather high limit?

I see some spectacular wrecks out here, by the way.

Sears outlet store. Many people have gone there and bought fridges, washers, etc.. but were there only once. John is asking where to go and since no one can give exact directions, he gets it in his head that therefore it does not exist. this is a computer geek who used yahoo to 'search' and when it didn't give a accurate spot he decides Sears outlet doesn't exist and therefore everyone is lying.. I mean come on! what an idiot.. all I had to do was search other engines and find it, but for 2 years he has held onto the belief that since he couldn't get directions it never existed. that is just part of it. I feel sorry any kids he may have that have to grow up with his mentality..
