Why do southern people behave in a more friendly nature than their counterparts to the north, in New England?

The situation is this: I have a job interview on Friday, and the interviewer knows I'm employed and will be coming to meet him from my current job. Friday at my place of employment is "business casual". If I showed up to work wearing a suit, they'd probably be suspicious, because everyone dresses down on Fridays. Also, they know I'm leaving early (but don't know why). Would it be horrible to go to my interview wearing nice black slacks and a button down blouse? This wouldn't make my present employer suspicious of anything, and my potential employer knows I'm coming to see him straight from work. Would this be acceptable?

My stepfather's name is German. (I'm Irish/Greek). In my summer class today the topic of Tiffany's Jewelry store came up, and I mentioned that I have never had anything from that store.
Two Jewish girls (I only knew this after they told me) were whispering & looking at me, & after class said : but didn't you get a star necklace from TIffany's for your bar/bat(?) mitzvah?

They said it was because of my German name & dark hair, mostly.
One girl told me her mother had told her that I was "one", "for sure"!

( I don't know her mother at all and I'm new to this town ) and that I probably had rhinoplasty already???!!!

SO: is it just me, or do (some) Jewish people really enjoy finding out (almost "hunting") for other Jewish people
Also sometimes I feel they are intentionally putting these forward questions out there, just to see if they were right in guessing (almost like a game to them), and if so, I understand their insecurity but I can't help feeling it is rude. Am I wrong?

OK, it's a hot day and a lot of you have gone sleeveless. As you fuss with your hair or reach for things, I love looking at your underarms. Do any of you find this objectionable?
