As a native Angeleno (that would be Los Angeles), I feel pretty qualified to answer this one:

Of course it rains in southern California. Not a lot, mind you (average yearly rainfall is about 12 inches, as we're in a desert area and often have droughts) but it does happen. We have one "rainy" season in the late spring/early summer and another during the winter. During that time, we'll usually get a few days at once of rain. Unlike in other places I've seen, where it will rain on and off all day or for a few days, here, when it starts raining, it will keep coming down heavily until it's finished. Hence, I guess, the saying, "It never rains in southern California, but when it does, it pours!"

It's true I've never seen rain in Southern California. But again I've never been there...:)

Only in the movies.

It ALWAYS rains in So. CA in the movies.

yeah it rains in so cal, but not as much as nor cal. a few minutes ago it was sprinkling in san diego and lemon grove.
