Appropriate, yes. Wise, no.
You really don't want to ruin the wedding by passing out from heat exhaustion.

You don't say if you're male or female. If you're female, definitely not. No matter what you've seen, black is still not considered appropriate for a wedding. Even if you want to ignore that, geez! You'll broil outside wearing a black suit in August! You also don't mention how formal this wedding is going to be. I'm assuming it must be a backyard or something (not the beach). A light colored dress would be appropriate. If you're a male, you may want to try to find a lighter colored suit than black. Also, if your suit is casual enough, you could probably get by without the dress shirt and tie if you have a silk tee shirt or something that will match.
Have fun!

It depends. Traditionally, the answer is a resounding NO, because black is the color of mourning, and would be disrespectful to wear to a wedding. Today the rules are a little more relaxed. Just be aware that many people still have those traditional attitudes and could be offended...or at least think you are being rude. But today, since the rules *are* more relaxed, you could get away with it as long as it's not all black, or you dress it up with some joyful accessories.

yes it is. since it's an outdoor evening wedding, anything can go... since it's an evening event, wearing a black suit is totally fine. just make sure that there is nothing on the invite that says that it's a formal event, in which case you should be wearing a tux. A black suit will be great for this event.
i would recommend, that if you have something else a little more comfortable, to wear that... for example, a nice airy linen suit. It's going to be hot out!

Yes, it's appropriate, but it's going to be hot...Could maybe a gray or tan be wore. My son-in-law 's groomsmen wore light tan with a dark brown vest. They were married in an outdoor wedding in May. It was hot, lucky God provide some cloud cover. But if black is the color, then yes it's appropriate, Make sure to have plenty of water for the wedding party handy and the quests because of the heat. Outdoor wedding are really beautiful but you have to be extra careful especially with the eldery and the children. Don't forget the bride, we had my daughter's friend running back and forwards with cool drinks for her. Because with the weight of her gown and train she was exhausted. I would suggest that the bride change for the reception if it's going to be outdoors to, to something lighter and easier to move around in. Congratulations! I hope God bless you with cloud cover on the wedding day too..... God bless us all..........

Not unless you wish to die of heat exhaustion, try a lighter colored suit or a sports jacket and slacks all with summer weight fabrics. I don't think they expected the kind of hot weather we are having right now . I pity the poor bride in her wedding dress I hope they are smart enough to have big fans placed around for all .Afternoon outdoor weddings should not be formal.Morning weddings held indoors can be more formal. But if its your wedding I say do what you like and enjoy.

Yes, it is. Even though it will still be HOT as heck at 5pm----it is an after 5 event----a dark colored suit is appropriate if tuxedos aren't called for(that is if it's "black tie" or not). Good luck. I know you'll find something to look fly in.

I would go with a light grey, a light pink tie and a shirt. When outdoors during the day, you want to look vivid, and black's not a way to do it. Grey gives you a bit more sophistication and class since it's close to black, but you don't look lugubrious.

Are you the groom??
Really, the best way to answer this is to ask the bride...if you're the groom, your suit should match her dress (silk/sating/beading/train=dressier - tux; tulle/organza/organdy/linen/no train=suit is great)
If you must wear a suit and you're worried about not being dressy enough, wear a tie that matches her flowers or colors.

Are you a guest? If so I would wear white, it would be so much cooler. Or any light colored jacket. It doesn't make sense to overheat yourself. It is perfectly acceptable to wear black, but summer is a time for lighter, cooler clothing. Yep, even at a wedding.
