The situation is this: I have a job interview on Friday, and the interviewer knows I'm employed and will be coming to meet him from my current job. Friday at my place of employment is "business casual". If I showed up to work wearing a suit, they'd probably be suspicious, because everyone dresses down on Fridays. Also, they know I'm leaving early (but don't know why). Would it be horrible to go to my interview wearing nice black slacks and a button down blouse? This wouldn't make my present employer suspicious of anything, and my potential employer knows I'm coming to see him straight from work. Would this be acceptable?

Get changed in your car - you have to wear the standard interview uniform even on a Friday when you are the only person dressed up.

Why not wear khakis with a nice blouse to "casual Friday" at job 1, and stash a matching jacket in your car for the interview?

If you don't have a car, go to a clothing store and ask for a garment bag- one that you can use with hanging clothes. Be sure its not clear, and keep the jacket in there until you leave for the interview. If anyone at job 1 asks "what's in the bag?" you can say that its clothing you need to return after work.

Yes, black slacks with a white button-down shirt, along with a scark or a tie is both casual and "nice".
For a job interview, you are supposed to wear something along the lines of what will be expected of you for that job position, only a little nicer.

I agree with CreolGirl about dressing nice on Friday and saying you have an engagement to attend right after work. They are your co-workers, not your family, so you do not have to go into detail with them if you don't want to.
Wearing khakis to a job interview would be the kiss of death to the new job.

Stash interview clothes in the trunk of your car and change into them at a rest room a long the way. Your co-workers have no business knowing about an interview.

take the suit and find a place to put it on......the first impression is so important for an interview......
Also check to see how your hair looks.......hands should not be dirty..........fingernails.......it´s not an excuse that you are comming from your current job......the interviewer wants the best of you........I know this because this is what I do........
I also check that the person does not "fiddle" with their hair, clothes, scarves, glasses, etc.......
and you should look straight in the eyes of whoever is questioning you.......and smile as much as you can without looking corky.......
