Why are people such jerks? I answer questions for a online sales website - and people are so dang rude - what is the point?

I HOPE that they don't think that they are being rude. I would hate to live in a world where people actually TRY to be rude. Maybe, they think that they have a legitimate complaint.
I'm sure that the people you, primarily, deal with are not complimentary.
At least it is not Christmas time, yet. Then, they will be really fun.
Oh, by the way, I'm happy to say that I don't know the point of their actions. I'm more than certain, that some of them are out to make you feel bad. Just deal with them and try to be polite. Polite people really p!ss them off! It is so funny! They turn out to be really mad but they can't do anything about it. It makes them even madder, it is amusing!

You're an anonymous target for their frustration that they'll probabaly never see / talk to again.
There's no consequence to being mean to sales people.
So it makes them feel important if they can be-little you, the sales person
It's sad, but It's the cultue we have now..
