Serious question. And if He isn't, then why so many contradictions?
Comparing the Old Testament to the new one.
God of Jesus: "God is love." (1 John 4:16)
God of Moses: "Kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man" (Num. 31:17)
God of Jesus: "Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me." (Mark 9:37)
God of Moses: "Put to death men and women, children and infants" (1 Sam. 15:2-3)
God of Jesus: "Love does no harm to its neighbor" (Rom. 13:10)
God of Moses: "He totally destroyed all who breathed, just as the Lord, the God of Israel, had commanded." (Josh. 10:40)
God of Jesus: "[The devil] was a murderer from the beginning." (John 8:44)
God of Moses: "Slaughter old men, young men and maidens, women and children" (Ezek. 9:6)
God of Jesus: "Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." (1 Peter 5:8)
God of Moses: "Like a lion I will devour them.

Christianity says that God created me, and he will judge whether I go to Heaven or Hell. Doesn't this violate the concept of free will? Did I have a choice to be created and ultimately judged? Did God say to me "You can choose to live and possibly burn eternally in hell, or you can choose not to exist." I think I would have gone ahead and opted out of the burning eternally in hell bit.

There are only two possibilities here.

1. God did give me a choice and I, for whatever reason, chose to roll the dice.

2. God didn't give me a choice and I was put on this Earth against my will. Thus violating the concept of free will.

I work with some guys that say they don't believe in God. Because they only believe in what they "can see or prove".
In different conversations we've had about the TV show Ghost Hunters they've all said they believe in ghosts. How can there be spirits if there is no afterlife? Of course they can't answer that. I also get them on the topic of aliens, which of course they all believe exist even though they've never seen one.....how can they believe in something they can't see? Hmmmmm.......

Does anybody else have ANY other ways to help me get to people like that?

I was just wondering if anyone here is a polytheist?

I am an atheist, but I find Hellenic polytheism really fascinating and was wondering if their are any polytheists on this board?

If you are, what type of polytheist are you? Hellenic, Wicca, Ásatrú?

And before people start saying I am mocking them, I'm not. I am truely fascinated by all religions (I even go to a Catholic school), I just haven't found one I believe in.

And another question - does ayone here believe that Christianity is polytheistic as they worship the holy trinity (i.e., God - in 3 seperate forms)?

Would she have been kicked out but not him? And if so would he have had to have given another rib to get a new wife or would the clay method be used again? Would Adam's first wife Lillith welcome her? And finally who did the children of Adam and Eve marry? Were they Lillith's children? What a meet the family get together that would have been!

I mean... they have to get in arguments and all, its funny. If their god was the true god then he wouldnt need people to debate for him. Oh well... the ancient people gave up their gods... and nothing happened ... the current God will also be lost in time

This is kind of a deep question. Why is there somthing instead of nothing? Is just the fact that the universe was created prove that God exists and that we have a purpose here?

An old cowboy dressed to kill with a cowboy shirt, hat, jeans, spurs and chaps went to a bar and ordered a drink.

As he sat there sipping his whiskey, a young lady sat down next to him. After she ordered her drink she turned to the cowboy and asked him, "Are you a real cowboy?"

The cowboy replied, "Well, I have spent my whole life on the ranch, herding cows, breaking horses, mending fences, I guess I am." After a short while he asked her what she was.

She replied, "I've never been on a ranch so I'm not a cowboy, but I am a lesbian. I spend my whole day thinking about women. As soon as I get up in the morning I think of women, when I eat, work, watch TV, everything seems to make me think of women."

A short while later she left and the cowboy ordered another drink.

A couple sat down next to him and asked, "Are you a real cowboy?"

He replied, "I always thought I was, but I just found out that I'm probably a lesbian."

Why do some (not all) religious folk claim to know Scientific theories (when they really have no idea), laugh at ideas that aren't even contained within these theories, and try to pass them off as "just theories"?

The reason I ask this is because it appears a lot, especially if you've ever seen anyone like Kent Hovind do a presentation. There was a question just now about the big bang and it was evident that this guy had no idea what it was...

Theory: a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world.

He said he was in the checkout line and this really fat lady in front had her dress stuck in her butt crack and when he pulled it out she turned around and blacked his eye, they said how did you get the other one, he said I thought she liked it so much, I shoved it back in.

Please don't answer that it can't happen. This question is for those willing to entertain the possibility for a short time in order to answer this question. Thank you.

OK, I always heard that you believe 144,000 are going to HEAVEN and that's it, there's no hope for the rest of us.
Do you actually believe that all of us who believe will be with God after the resurection, and that the 144,000 are just "extra special" (for lack on my part of a better word)?
