I work with some guys that say they don't believe in God. Because they only believe in what they "can see or prove".
In different conversations we've had about the TV show Ghost Hunters they've all said they believe in ghosts. How can there be spirits if there is no afterlife? Of course they can't answer that. I also get them on the topic of aliens, which of course they all believe exist even though they've never seen one.....how can they believe in something they can't see? Hmmmmm.......

Does anybody else have ANY other ways to help me get to people like that?

I dont beleive in ghosts or aliens, but I know that I know that there is a God, and He is Lord. He is Jesus Christ, my saviour.

I think all you can do is plant the seed, pray about it and then let God give the increase.

We do not have the power to change anyones minds. That is something that God has to do.

I look at it like this..

An afterlife does not necessarily have to exist connected to a god or religion in general. If it was real, it could very easily exist as it's own thing.

IF an afterlife was any kind of reality, I personally don't view it as being off in some religious 'heaven' thing, but rather still right here, still very much a part of this world.

The potential of ghosts... while I am a natural skeptic and even if someone I had known showed up in front of me, I'd still find myself questioning it later... however, 'ghosts' have given me far for evidence than any 'god' has... the ghosts are up by a whole handful of things I've never found an explanation for VS the god who has never once shown any evidence if itself.

And so you know...even atheists can have varying views, even a belief of an afterlife. The only thing we have in common, and the only thing that makes us atheists, is that we don't believe in things like gods and accompanying characters. Loved ones on the other hand...well they were certainly real in this world at one time.

P.S. Aliens are easy to figure they probably are real someplace since we ourselves are here...and to them *we* would be the aliens.

Why do you need to be so conniving as to need to "get to people like that"? If you read what I have said, my view on it is probably similar to what they think, whether they have the words for it or not.

You're talking about an absolute force, God. It's easier to believe in dead peopel being stuck on Earth than to believe in an all-knowing, all-powerful Creator who has an attitude problem. Strange equipment readings and things have happened in places we call 'haunted'. The most physical evidence of the Old Testament God is personal experience. Miracles is the key you need. You can find Miracle videos to buy and rent and books on the subject to show them. You might even go as fluffy as new age angel stuff. I'm not sure your angle, but you could bend either of these to prove God exists or prove your buddies are stupid.

I don't know any atheists who believe in ghosts. Aliens is a different topic though. Most people who believe aliens exist do so based on the evidence of how vast the universe is. People who believe in aliens don't (or at least shouldn't) claim they have knowledge that aliens exist. This belief in aliens doesn't require you to believe there's anything independent of nature.

I don't disbelieve in god because I can see one. I disbelieve because there is no evidence for anything beyond nature.

Get them how? I'm not sure that you did "get them" you only presented questions that THEY could not answer (supposedly), which happens on this site everyday. Does that mean you have established proof of a god, certainly not. People can believe in ghosts because they can SEE ghosts. You never once said these people said they didn't believe that there was no "after-life." Everyone HAS to believe that there is an after-life, it's called death, i.e. death comes AFTER life. YOU still have not proven that there is a god, so it looks like THEY got YOU.

Just because they don't believe in God, doesn't mean they don't believe in the afterlife. And some people may have seen Ghosts, or think they have.

You don't have to believe in GOD to believe that there is an afterlife! Some of us believe that there is a place we go after we die, "the other side", the "afterlife", the "spirit world" are common terms for this. How is that so hard to understand?

People will believe anything they wish to. That is what humans are all about.

They even believe in faith healers. If faith healers are for real then why the hell we build so many hospitals?

Why the hell one need a degree in medicine when God could heal all?

Why the hell so many still die of cancer?

The answer is humans are really VERY VERY VERY DUMB!

Just because one does not believe in your god does not mean that they do not believe in an afterlife. From my experience and understanding, ghosts supposedly have been seen and felt. Kind of contradicts your argument, doesn't it?

Well that is rare, but I've met a few.

You don't have to believe in a sky daddy to believe that you could live on, and you don't have to believe that ghosts are dead people.
