Some say through some types of yoga it can be achieved. I worked for someone who ran such a place. I find it to be a huge money maker for them and not the truth, I think you can find what you are looking for through experiences rather than chasing this.

The third eye is a term often used in reference to the brow Chakra. People who meditate may aspire to "open" this third eye (as well as would be seers). Is it Christian or not? This my dear is a very fine line. I'm a Christian, and I have no problem with it - but many others would disagree. Is it necessary that you be able to do this? Do you feel that God wants you to be able to? Does this idea conflict with your beliefs? If you feel pursuing this would be a poor decision, I would definitely heed the warning of your conscious.
Best Wishes,
~J.M.
P.S. Don't be afraid to research this more thoroughly. There is a lot of information out there. To make good decisions you must come armed with knowledge. Use your common sense to weed out irrelevant or one sided information.

As another answerer has pointed out, the third eye is one of 7 chakras...I don't know where people are getting that it is a pagan practice only when the use of chakras in relation to healing is described in the Bible as being practiced by Jesus himself.
Luke 8: 1,2
1After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, 2and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out;
The seven chakras being opened is a very well-known healing practice throughout many different cultures. It has been brought to our attention by many historians that the casting out of the seven demons was the opening of the seven chakras to allow all impurities to flow freely out of the body. Back then, everything was a "demon", many of which are diseases well known to medical science today.
I am not sure exactly how Catholics would feel about it, but there is certainly nothing evil about it.

Did God create us with a "third eye"? If the Pineal Gland can truly open our spiritual awareness, can God use this spiritual discernment for his glory? Is yoga wrong if used to become more focused on God through quiet meditation? Is "chi" a real phenomena and if so, why did God create us with this ability? We don;t have to adhere to other faiths or seek other spirits while working through the discovery of God's creative order in the capacity our minds, souls, and spirits...do we?
I personally believe that the Christian faith has lost much of the eastern roots of our faith and it would serve us all well to fast and meditate more often...to gain control of our bodies and minds, and to become more sensitive to the small still voice of God.

Why don't you check with your priest?
Third eye is part of the chakra system that everyone has. Its not that easy to open, and a lot more will happen than just seeing auras. You'd better educate yourself before you get into something you didn't bargain for.

The belief in chakras comes from Hinduism and yoga. Conservative Christians are of the opinion that anything that comes from a non-Christian culture is anti-Christian, and that psychic abilities are the same thing as witchcraft and Satanism.
However, if you believe that psychic powers are a gift from God, and using the chakras is simply a tool to develop them, then I see nothing wrong with it.

the 3rd eye represents a spiritual faculty that everyone has, but most don't use. It certainly is part of learning about your spiritual self and it must happen at the right time. It expresses and gives you the reality of the Christ in you/others.
Unfortunately, it is also tied with pyschism which the Catholic church doesn't want you to play in for it can be dangerous.

I personally don't think that it would be. Catholics are very strict in their belief systems. I am a Gnostic Christian. I seek God from within, and I think anything that would open your heart would be acceptable to Him. Opening the third eye would enrich your life and make you a better person. I think God is more complex and accepting that we could possibly comprehend.
