The challenge is not to prove to atheists that God exists, but to convince atheists that they can actually experiment successfully with reliable methods by means of which they can determine for themselves whether God exists.

For the past couple of months my friend/ neighbor has been doing massages in her home. She does not have a computer or the internet and I have been posting ads for her on craigslist.
Her brother is licensed - he gave her a massage table that she uses for the clients and she has known how to massage for about six years. Her husband is out of the country and will be back in 2008. She needed to find a way to make money (she is a stay at home mom) while he is away.

Last night I was going to post a new ad for her and I saw that someone posted that they wanted info about her. Someone responded and said that her home was dirty and had bugs/roaches. Should I tell her? Should I continue to post ads for her... or should I tell her and let her decide?

I dont mean zakat, i meant....zadak? I dont know how to spell it...in hebrew it is tzadaka, and its similar in arabic. It's just when you give money to a person on the street who asks for it, basically. In Judaism, according to my rabbi before i converted (obviously, lol), you are required to give SOMETHING to anyone who asks for money or food.....she said that it is good even if it is a "dried up prune."
My mother was wondering if it was the same in islam, and i'd like to answer her, lol =)
thanks!

OK, so i'm not 100% sure what it is to be a Satanist, I am pretty sure it doesn't involve being a child molester, sheep sodomiser, graveyard vandaliser, flag burner or ouija consultant.

I'm just not sure whether it's just a way of thinking (a'la La Vey), or whether there is a way of pracising it and somehow making my life better. I've tried the Jesus stuff and that is all Emperor's New Clothes gimmickry and pseudo spiritual inner healing which actually doesn't work at all when faced with real life.

So I'm asking any practising satanists for tips and pointers

Think about it, folks: Every visit to a non-Asatru worship assembly is just one more slap in Thor's face. Is that a risk you really want to take? Hmmm?

I've been told by members of another forum that God couldn't possibly have a hand in our adoption because God would not "rip a child from his bio-mom" or cause the hurt & pain that is associated with adoption on the birthfamily/adoptee side. I feel completely the opposite - that our adoption was a true gift from God. It was His way of allowing us to have the family we always wanted. We refer to our adoption story as a Miracle because we believe that our son was placed with us for a reason and that his life was saved because of it. I've received a lot of criticism on this. I'm curious as to what others in this category have to think/say about it.

Hi.
I'm a student who is learning English.
While I'm reading a text from Reader's Digest,
I got a question.
In this text, can you tell me what does this sentence 'had just become probably the first naval officer to qualify for...' mean?

By the time Dazel-Job walked into Commander Ian Fleming's Admiralty office one day in 1944 looking for a new assignment, he had already seen service as a seaman, commando, submariner and spy, and had just become probably the first naval officer to qualify for army parachute wings.

Does that sentence mean 'He was probably the first naval officer who was qualified for army parachute wings'?
If this translation is correct, why does 'to infinitive' appeared in that sentence?

Sorry if I did not put what I was saying in the right way..My point was that this person who was in an accident, and made it out okay had a grandmother, who was an athiest herself, so she DID NOT believe in ANY GOD right. Now she tells this grandchild that GOD was watching over him and that is why he made it though the terrible accident. So what do you tell this person, if your the grandma and he hears you say, "GOD was watching over you!" When in fact, she does not believe in any GOD? My question to everyone is...How would you explain being an athiest, and not believing in GOD, and yet you have said GOD was with you? What do you tell this grandchild whom has heard that grandma doesn't believe in GOD? Does GOD just exist in that moment in grandma;s mind? I hope I have worded what I am saying better this time! Thanks everyone :)

My hubby and I are having our annual Christmas Party. I just have one question that bugs me. Each year, we have so many people who never RSVP (even tho we list a request for it by a certain date). Don't people realize that when you are having a party, you need a general idea of how many people to expect so you can prepare snacks and food? To me, it's just common courtesy. I have no clue how many people to expect, and my party is tomorrow. Last year was just the same, and we ran out of snacks and had to run out to the store during the party. It just irritates me. Why doesn't anyone RSVP?
