Basicially this is someone that has been able to desist from a particulary sin, and has gone back to it. All sin is, is something that hurts us or other people. So going back to it is very stupid.
Like when a dog has eaten something that has been bad for him and made him sick, he's gone back and eaten it again. Obviously it's going to make the dog sick again.

Someone returning to something they had earlier discarded as disgusting.....

e.g someone learns that there is no trinity and is grateful to learn the truth about God, but then later due to some weakness in a certain area and a lack of repentance due to pride or a lack of love for God, they leave the truth and return to a religion that teaches that God is a trinity.

Hence they go back and "lick up" what they had earlier "vomited".

Yuck!

Well I think it very clearly contradicts the doctrine of once saved always saved. It lays out the principle that a saved man, should be a changed man. And to know the truth, and yet turn back into sin is very serious in God's eyes because it is a flat out rejection of the atonement for your sins. So the dog returning to its vomit is an expression referring to a person returning to a life of sin after they had received salvation.

This has reference to the fact that once you have learned the Truth from God's word and you leave it for Satan's world then it will be just like a dog returning to eat it's own vomit.

2 Pet 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, "The dog is turned to his own vomit again"; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

When they turn away from the truth once they have accepted the salvation of Jesus Christ, God is going to tell us exactly what they will do, and He will use the animal kingdom again in this illustration.

Once you see the true light of God's Word and have tasted of the love that our Father has for you, and then turn to those traditions of Men that side step the teachings of God's Word, it is going to be worse for you then at the beginning.

God sees you not as the *** that warned Balaam, but as the dog that goes back to his own vomit, and makes a feast of that filth for himself.

When any animal vomits, it's because there was something harmful inside of it. It is getting the "bad" out. For us, that's sin - it's harmful to us.

God wants us to get sin out of our lives. Once we have that which is bad for us out of our lives, it would be as bad as eating our vomit if we were to return to that sin.

It's a pretty vivid image - but tells us how bad God feels about the sin that is in us.

God sees sin as bad as vomit , and when one of us commit sins and then repent or know how bad it is , and then doing it again
then he's like a dog that returned to its vomit

I read this too and was disturbed. What you need to know is that we as humans which is a selfishness of it's own are inclined to sin. The Bible is a guide and life book as it is referred to as the "bread" or "well." To become a better person, a child of God and even grow to be a mature person of God takes effort. I am not going to say it is easy because we fall and our heart convicts us but God is stronger. Have you accepted Christ? If so, try to love one another. To be honest to me it can also be pertaining to a type of addiction.

That the natural man may attempt to be "good" and try to act "spiritual", but, outside of God's intervention in His life, he will naturally return to his sin and sinful life.
