I don't think so. Suppose you manage to do such a thing, will your factories be able to produce cheaper goods than their competitors? If you think class warfare is bad now, just try something like that and see how much more the US turns to cheap imports from China, and finds other means to intimidate and destroy your worker-owned factory. You'd never survive.
What really needs to happen is a radical change in the attitudes of the majority of Americans. Until Americans believe that the people who work in factories ought to own them, you'll never get anywhere. You'd also need to change a lot of laws regarding current business practices to avoid being undercut by private business. That would take a massive change in our culture.

Why would you promote this? You want all those workers to starve to death? In this world, there are people who want the security of working for a company (workers, W-2 Employees, slaves, etc) and there are those who want the freedom of doing it all on their own terms (entrepreneurs, self employed, 1099-ers, owners). Don't mess with that reality. One of the hardest things to do is to take a person cut from the "workers" cloth, and make him into a business owner.

That will work if they will sell. Unfortunately for any modicum sized business communal ownership is not feasible and non functional. It will be bankrupt in 5 or less years.
