A lot of them go on a power trip, not all but I hope I never have to get on a airline again. To many regulations to much airport hassle for this old man. Thank god I can still hitch a ride on small aircraft.

I got my first taste of Airline Security when I flew to Florida last October. I didn't have any trouble. I did have to remove a money belt that was under my clothes...and put it back on the other side. Nobody paid any attention. I think people are getting used to it. I was embarrassed. The flight back was better because I knew what to expect and I had no money left so I didn't wear the money belt.

I fly frequently. I've been doing so for the last 7 years. In my opinion the service has declined.
United is the most constant. I've only had a few problems with them. Delta is okay. American Airlines has been horrible to me, maybe because I am not a frequent flier with them.
That's just what I think...

Last year was a fiasco for me at Reagan International Airport in DC. My drivers licnese had expitired while away on deployment to American Red Cross headquarters I was gone 6 weeks. I got to the airport 3 hours early, in going through security, they were not going to allow me to fly with an expired license, I have at least 5 picture ID's and other identification. Naturally off with the shoes, go through this machine that blows air at you to detect bomb making chemicals, I had Dentugrip in my purse, so they confiscated that along with a lighter (OK, understand that one). They detained me and questioned me because of my drivers license. I help up the line and a national security person came over, finally I was allowed to get on the flight. They announced my name over the intercom since I had already checked in.

I'd imagine they act roughly as security personnel act in all settings. Which is to say they probably abuse their power when they feel they can afford to do so, are rude, capricious, self-righteous, and most likely paid well above the going price of anything they're competent to do.

I feel like they act professionally when searching personally, but I have had several articles of clothing stolen from my bag, one every time I get a slip of paper saying my bag has been searched by hand.

I've never had any problem with Airport Security Personnel. Before going to the airport, you might want to visit this website:
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm
It tells you what you can and can't put in your carry-on luggage. I know that they enforce the 3oz or smaller rule because my Mother-in-law had to surrender her large tube of Crest toothpaste.
Just remember that these rules are in place to try to keep you safe.
Good luck and happy travels :)

For the most part "YES" - however, some of the "Security" in customs are a little over zealous! Just my opinion. CJ

In general, yes -- but the fact that it's not uniform stinks -- "the chain and weakest link thing"
