The Bible is a collection of books, there is no right place.
If you go to a mainstream church, you'll hear the gospels.
Catholic churches use a lectionary or missalette.
Take whatever readings are scheduled for the day.

G*D has never left your side, even if you didn't speak to him.
In fact G*D is closer to you than being at your side.
But many people need a focal point to visualize G*D.
You can use a cross, candle, icon, or whatever works for you.
This is not idolatry, because the object itself does not matter.
Just tell G*D how you feel, & ask G*D to help you.
G*D has promised always to listen & be beside you.

Just talk to Him like you would your best friend. After all, He created you ... your His child ... and He loves you.

Start reading the Bible wherever you feel comfortable. The important thing is to set aside some time each day for reading and studying His Word.

Edit:
I’ve added two resources for you below. The first is the Audio Bible Online. There you can read and listen to the whole Bible for free. The second is a great Bible study site. They help bring God’s Word alive with meaning.

God's always there, waiting with open, loving arms to take you back. He's the perfect Dad!
With the Bible, I'd start in Matthew or Luke, then Acts.
As for talking to God, you can't get closer to a person unless you spend time with them, right? And God wants to hear about everything that's going on in your life, not just the good stuff - tell Him about the times that suck, too, and ask for His comfort - it'll come.
Blessings!

Psalms or Proverbs. You can really start anywhere. God wants to hear from us anytime. Even when you haven't spoken to Him in a long time, He's waiting patiently for you to just start talking to Him. He loves you just like that. So even in your sadness and in the middle of your hurt, He longs to talk with you. So don't be afraid. You won't ever know if He won't hear you unless you start talking to Him.(smile) You have to start somewhere so start anywhere. Isn't it worth the try?

awww thats soo sweet ,, ,, dont you think he knows already what you want?? its the work of the HOLY SPIRIT that even sets this desire in our heart,
HE LOVES YOU MORE THAN you or i can comprehend . I know we all fall short and your sin is no different or worse than another .. open your heart to him. LOOK i know women talk to their girlfriends about most everything ..
OPEN up to GOD as if HE was your best friend and u have a secret u just have to spill or burst,, // look hehehe sadness can be over come by a good laugh humour often makes a difficulty situation seem easier.
it seems that when we laugh little endorphins are set loose and they are chemicals that can heal us from within/ ,, its ok to get sad for we have tear ducts too and they were created just for this,, its good to release the tensions that build up with a cry too..

GOD DOES LOVE u and me even when we sin ,. he is their and wants to hear from us .. so dont be afraid its god in u that is causing you to want to talk to him,, stop thinking he doesnt want to hear form you. this is just the devil trying to convince u that GOD does not care,, prove him wrong and take your time and make the first step , u wont be disapointed if u continue ,,
in christs love ,, bro murray

God is waiting for you to turn and talk with Him again. As for where to start in the Bible, the Gospels are always a good place to start if you haven't picked it up in a while. I'd start with Matthew or Luke.

God is going to be happy when you pray and come to him again , God loves us even if we are sinners , because he's our father ,, he loves us to do good things and to follow his teachings,,, there's a story in the bible where a man had a son ,read the new testament ,start with it, you are going to find how much God loves us , and how much he is going to be pleased when one of us come back to him ,,, God loves you, and he wants you to come back to him , and he is going to hear you,,,,another proof is that if God doesn't listen to us then his sacrifice( being crossed) would be useless and all the pain and sufferings he had for us will be useless and God dont want this ,,, so have faith and know that he is waiting for you ,,,,, i remind myself with this every now and then , when i doubt that God is not going to hear me , i just pray and ask God to help me to come back to him

and don't forget that as you pray to him , u need to wait and listen to him , don't just pray and then go , just give your self the peace mind ,the time and the chance to listen to his answers

God bless
good luck

Dear one, The Lord has promised us that he will NEVER leave us nor forsake us, but that he will ALWAYS be with us, even to the end of the age! He also tells us "ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you!" these are PROMISES from God to YOU!
Start by reading the book of john, and then read some of the psalms! stay in those for a while and let The Lord minister to you!

That's one thing you can count on with God. When you call on him he is always willing to listen.

Just get your Bible out and just open it. Don't pick the page have faith that he will pick the page, and be prepared to listen to whatever he wants to say to you. Even if at the time you may not understand what he's talking about, you will soon.

Glad you're on the way back.

When we have been away from God, we can feel that way. He never leaves us or turns from us. We are the ones that turn from Him. He is always there , so start praying (talking) to Him. Tell Him how you feel. He will understand! I suggest reading the book of John. I will pray as you seek Him, He will be revealed to you, and you will know He is there, and really know Him.
