By one experience in the church? Have you reconsidered since?

Whether from a passage of scripture, or someone telling you that bad things happened as a result of God's will?

I know that was something that bothered me from a very young age. I believe it was the key issue in fostering my doubts.

I believe in God, but I don't think He/She is personally involved in the day to day lives of us peons. There are some who He/She may take an interest in, but not all of us are on His/Her watchlist. I believe that there is evil and that we are supposed to oppose it at every turn, but without evil there is no balance. I believe there are certain behaviors that are inherently wrong- if it's bad for humanity then it's an evil, but I think most moralizing is just B.S. I believe that we are personally responsible for answering our own prayers and controlling our own impulses. I believe that there is "magic" in the world, but that term is only for that which we don't yet understand. I believe in the divinity of the earth and the divinity of man. So, what am I?
Besides a condemned Heathen, dear Christians.

"Nothing is more alien than living in a Godless world, and nothing is closer to humans than God."

Hey all!

I am a Christian and I was thinking about it the other day at work, smiling. I was thinking about how my mother who passed a long time ago said "When I am in heaven I am going to dance with my new legs!" This made me happy. My mother had MS and her legs could not function as well as she would have liked.

For someone that is suffering (she ultimately died of cancer) I totally understand her desire to live free of that pain.

However, I'm 25 and I am in good shape, I'm healthy and love life (even it's difficulties).

See, as a perfectly healthy human being, I desire life on earth, not up there.

From my understanding of heaven, we praise God the whole time, and everything is perfect. That does not sound like fun to me. Honestly. I will praise the Lord, but I would get sick of doing it all the time. And additionally, I am all about life's little difficulties. Opinions?

Honestly, How does heaven sound to you?

PLEASE, don't turn this into a religious debate

what if muslims called a toy jesus?well as a muslim i must say they never would cuz we respect all prophets as much.i would get angry at the person who did that wouldn't u?and by the way u donno what mohammad himself thinks about this, if the teacher deserves the punishment or not.i'm sure he thinks she does not,so plz stop it all of u.i think there has been enough about this on R&S.here r some sentences by mohammad i've fond in the book 'Nahjol fassahe' that seem relevant:[a preson who doesn't have compassion and kindness will not enter heaven.if any ruler or leader forgives when he's angry, god will forgive his sins in judjment day.if a person can use his anger but doesn't do so,god willmake him full of faith and calmness.be kind with others so that they be kind with u and forgive other peoples faults so that they forgive yours]

I'm taking about a somone. Known as babeybat or Nardia on here, and to those whom know her this is the time to let her hear your roar. Nardia is dying for reasons, I cannot say. Someone on here does. Hopefully he will answer this. But if Nardia does not feed by this time tommorow, she will die. Never to come back. I ask for your support, show her it's great here. I'm calling on you not to bash her, but to tell something that is rare in today world that she is to stay here. Let the roaring begin.

I saw a similar question that has been resolved and although there was some discussion of this question, it wasn't the main question.

There are some ingredients I simply do not like, such as chocolate and nuts, and I also have neurotic issues with people who are not very sanitary (it's not like everyone washes their hands before reaching into that serving dish).

Everyone would get offended if I called them "dirty," no matter how I tried to spin it so usually I just say that I don't like that food. I have tried the "save it for later" routine but they always catch me. Either I forget to eat it or, some of them, will keep watching me to see what I do with it! I have actually eaten food that I did not want before just to avoid conflict.

I'm open to ideas here!

Well why don't atheists do something about it, instead of whining about it?

I am sure that a theist can give you some pointers on how to the government works. You know like talking or writing to your congressman, petitions, public forums, stuff like that.

Unless you like to whine. If so, by all means whine away.

....when I missed meeting him after work? It's 11-something at night now and I want to call this guy to let him know how I accidentally missed meeting up with him but I think it's a little late.

Would it hurt to leave a message on his voice mail tonight? I've sent a couple of e-mails his way with my phone number. I don't want to give him the impression that I ignored him. I normally don't call people this late.

For the record, I did go to the place we were supposed to meet up but I didn't see him. I checked my email when I got home from work to find that he had e-mailed me to ask if we were still on to meet up (I was at work and couldn't take a personal email so I couldn't respond).

Another note: I'm terribly shy about calling new people.

If the earth is 2007 years old, why do we have dinosaur bones that are millions of years old?

Was there life before Jesus? That's B.C. right? Does that mean that there was life for millions of years before there was a God, then all of a sudden God makes adam and eve?

I have read the Bible, and I don't understand it at all. Thanks for your help with this.

apart from the fact that they live in Utah (i mentioned this for people who, i wish, came with a plug), do they have any discernible characteristics different to saints living elswhere, attitude- or culture-wise?

i was inclined to ask this after reading one of the responses to this question:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjX9LTIh24_qQhtSZkhytODsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071130110951AARtOMp&show=7#profile-info-jhb2awN3aa

i can also recall a missionary from boise that i met who is serving in a different area telling me something about one of the missionaries
"he's a smart missionary and all, but he has that Utahn attitude."

i have met dozens of Utahn missionaries, and i do not see any obvious difference with how they act, or maybe it's an american thing.

I have a very nice lady stopping by my home and she has been coming for about 3 weeks now. I am a Christian and am trying to strengthen my faith in every way possible. She comes to sit with me for about 20 minutes once a week and I read through my NIV bible while we study a guide "WHAT DOES THE BIBLE Really TEACH?" I love it that it makes me open my bible at least once a week. I'm a very busy wife and mom and have tried several different ways to find time. But I don't think I really want to convert to Jehovah Witness. Will she be offended
and feel used if I have her come just for the bible study? She has already invited me to a Sunday service and I didn't go.

How about you?

Please be kind to each other in this question, as it is not aimed at a certain belief system, but all.
