Facts are decided by man. Everyday there is some new "breakthrough" that changes the way that we look at some disease/cure. Pluto was a planet when it was discovered and now it is not. New science disproves old science everyday. So how is fact different from opinion?

I am utterly appalled that so many of you are defending the trash in sudan. You say it is everything from media manipulation to the west not understanding the muslim culture. Why not just say the truth instead. What Sudan is doing is wrong and over reactionary. With all DUE respect to those on here I love please someone speak on the subject with some sanity.

Why are so many religeous people speaking with one tounge - of love and compassion and then with another - of their despise of the different?
Why do people allways forget the fundimentals of their religion and find reason for the gravest of sins in the finges of their faith?

There is a local debate over whether or not a Christmas tree should be refered to as a "Holiday" tree. I am distressed over this because I personally would NEVER refer to a menorah as a holiday candle holder or make any type of derogatory referance to ones religion or beliefs. Why is it so many communities in the U.S. are faced with such opposition during the Christmas season? The U.S. is a Christianity based nation therefore as a nation we celebrate Christmas. If I were to move to Israel, I would never try to raise opposition against Channukha nor do I believe it would be tolerated, as it shouldn't be. Why can't we celebrate and enjoy the season as each of us sees fit, without controversy?

(My references to the menorah and Israel are only examples to make my point. The opposition being faced in this community are not of Jewish origin.)

I'm already doing research on the subject myself, but I thought it would add an extra element to the research by asking you. I think it's a shame that there seem to be no publications that present both sides of the argument and allows the reader to decide for themselves.

This is an excerpt of an e-mail to a famous Christian evangelist from an atheist.

"...You are really convinced that you've got all the answers.
If you believed one bit that thousands every day were falling into an eternal and unchangeable fate, you should be running the streets mad with rage at their blindness. That's equivalent to standing on a street corner and watching every person that passes you walk blindly directly into the path of a bus and die, yet you stand idly by and do nothing. You're just twiddling your thumbs, happy in the knowledge that one day that 'walk' signal will shine your way across the road.

Think about it. Imagine the horrors Hell must have in store if the Bible is true. You're just going to allow that to happen and not care about saving anyone but yourself? If you're right then you're an uncaring, unemotional and purely selfish (expletive) that has no right to talk about subjects such as love and caring."

Many of the earth’s previously unexplained features can be explained by a cataclysmic flood.
The origin of each of the following is a subject of controversy within the earth sciences. Each has many aspects inconsistent with standard explanations. Yet all appear to be consequences of a sudden and unrepeatable event—a cataclysmic flood whose waters erupted from interconnected, worldwide subterranean chamber with an energy release exceeding the explosion of 300 trillion hydrogen bombs. Consequences of this event included the rapid formation of the features listed below. The mechanisms involved are well understood.

The Grand Canyon and Other Canyons, Mid-Oceanic Ridge, Continental Shelves and Slopes, Ocean Trenches, Earthquakes, Magnetic Variations on the Ocean Floor, Submarine Canyons, Coal and Oil, Methane Hydrates, Ice Age, Frozen Mammoths, Major Mountain Ranges, Overthrusts, Volcanoes and Lava, Strata and Layered Fossils!!!!
Does this explain a flood?

I have alot more respect for someone who truly are atheist simply because science, or their own 5 sences have never felt, seen, or been able to see God.

But how about the mislabled atheist who are believers that were either forced to go to church, and do good, or just simply rebelious believers who hate God for things that have happened in the past, or currently happening now, with violence, murders, rape, plagues, mental illnesses, and all other bad things that happen to human beings.
These are not atheist at all. They know there is a God, but they hate him, and are at war with him, and who better to rally their anger behind, then atheist.
In definition, they are not atheist, but heathen at most.
And you can know the differance by the ones that will curse God, say vulgar things about him, and also curse those that follow him, whereas a true atheist simply refers to Christian as uneducated, void of free-will, and sometimes ignorant, which also means greatly uneducated.

If the 'soul' is the non physical non viewable with the eye part of us, our feelings, personality, character, heart etc. and that part is reincarnated, why don't we carry the same personality with us through our many lives? If we are the same reincarnated soul why do we take on the characteristics of our parents? If our personalities and characters and non viewable aspects are genetic, which they clearly are, what exactly is it that is reincarnated??

I find myself mostly Agnostic; believing in a "god" or "being" that created the universe.

Sometimes personal, sometimes not, but always a power I cannot and will not ever understand.

Other times, mostly when I get discouraged I just get to the point where I don't care, because it really does not matter seeing as I do not believe in heaven or hell, so I need not follow and dogma or rules.

Seeing as I do not believe in Heaven or Hell, not Satan or evil powers, what, may you ask, guides me in my behavior? Where do I get my morals?

The answer goes back to being an Agnostic, they come from within me and/or from my observations of other people be it reading stories, listenign to the radio, the internet, watching movies or people in my personal life.

But couldn't that be dangerous you ask?

Not, not if I know what is "wrong" and what is "right".

How do I know?

It goes back to me and other people.

So, an Agnostic can be summed up as a Secular Humanist.

I was wondering why Humans have a belief in god, there is no evidence for the existence of god, all there are, are holy books obviously written by man and full of inconsistencies, so why do humans beleive so consistently throughout the world in a god?
