is anyone here an atheist?
How do you become an atheist?
What do atheists think will happen in the afterlife?
Do they even believe that there is even an after life?

Wisconsin
Nun, 79, in sex case pleads no contest
MILWAUKEE - A 79-year-old Roman Catholic nun pleaded no contest yesterday to two counts of indecent behavior with a child for alleged sexual encounters with two male students at a church convent and school where she was principal during the 1960s. The nun, Norma Giannini, and her attorney left the courthouse without comment after entering the pleas in Milwaukee County Circuit Court. Giannini faces a maximum 10 years on each count when sentenced Feb. 1. According to the criminal complaint, the two men told authorities they had dozens of sexual encounters with Giannini, including intercourse, while attending St. Patrick's School. (AP)

I hate it when people say that there are some things that nobody should joke about, ex. rape, child abuse, murder, race, religion... some of those jokes happen to be the FUNNIEST out there. Anybody listen to George Carlin?

My question is: Out of all of the stats, it says that there are 2.1 billion christians in the entire world.
How many of these christians would you guess to be true christians?

The asker is not an atheist; but he is sympathetic with atheists. And he thinks atheism has a kind of spirituality necessary to be embraced by religionists as well.

My bf is always late... sometimes only a few minutes, or sometimes (like today) a long time. There's always an excuse, and they are valid, but it is so annoying. Like today for instance, (he was fixing something) said he would be done in 20 minutes and call me then (we had plans for shopping for the night) and didn't call me until an hour and twenty mins. later!! It is so annoying and so sickening and he *never* understands why I get mad about it! It's especially rude when other people have to wait too, such as my parents today, who were waiting for him to call so they could leave to go to the shops! How can I handle this.. I can't take it!!!

One summer evening during a violent thunderstorm
a mother was tucking her son into bed.

She was about to turn off the light when he asked with a tremor in his voice, "Mommy, will you sleep with me tonight?"

The mother smiled and gave him a reassuring hug.
"I can't dear," she said. "I have to sleep in Daddy's room"

A long silence was broken at last by his shaky little voice:

"The big sissy"

I love God and I have been baptised but I cannot stand to go to church. My mom says that I need to go but I feel it's not right for me. I read my Bible and talk with God to help but still I don't want to go. Chruch is nothing but a place to gossip and it's a bunch of hypocrites. Does anybody else feel the same way I do? Is there anything in the Bible that says you have to go to church?

The Christian church body ( all churches combined) would raise up an estimated over 80 billion dollars a year. Thats enough money to build a strong sturdy house for every poor family in the world. Provide clothes... we could build a bunch of factories, make and give away clothes to all the people who need them. Build over 80 billion wells in africa and bring them water so much water the desert would be an oasis... The possibilities would be endless what we could do with that money, free hospitals to help the sick. Yet Christians will say "We need that money to pay the clergy".. I guess the clergy are having one hell of a time... my conclusion, Christians are no less sinful, greedy and selfish than the rest of us.

A cookbook of favorite Christmas/holiday recipes. Obviously there wouldn't be enough time to make it for this year. But do you think that is a good gift idea or not?

Lost of people keep saying this, but I haven't seen any documentary or archeological evidence to back up the claim.

I do know that 25th December was suggested for Christmas in the early 3rd century. That it was being celebrated before the early 4th century. That a roman emperor instituted a pagan festival on that date in the late 3rd/early 4th century. That Saturnalia was three days earlier. That the date was chosen in Rome and so had nothing to do with celts, anglo-saxons or vikings.

I also know there are loads of web sites out there making the claim but none of them, as far as I know, provide any real solid historical evidence. Can anyone help? Where is the evidence? Where are the orginal documents or inscriptions?

I have come across some who really seem to think there is no other option, but let me ask this.

According to http://www.adherents.com/Religions_By_Adherents.html

Christianity only has a mere 2.1 billion followers throughout the world.
In comparrison, the world population is over 6 billion.

If you are of the mindset that christianity is the ONLY way, then the other 2/3 of the world is wrong?

Isn't this a bit arrogant?

Please don't put this down as "hate mail" or spite. It is a genuine question!
