That people who are staunchly and religiously anti-evolution don't even understand the concept of a scientific theory?

And that they come on here thinking we are going to take their opinion of science seriously?

They capitalize THEORY like they think it means a falsehood, or a guess. And then expect us to say "oh, yes, I see the light now!"

Lol.

Having read a question hear about christmas becoming commercialised -, it made me think. The Hindus have their special events in which they buy presents for each other, the muslims have theirs and buy presents for each other, jews also have their day and buy presents for each other.
I think what makes christmas less special is the festive music leading up to the day... you have so much singing, and hype and when the day arrives - well its a very quiet day - no cars on the road etc and the time just flies by.

It is commercialised i admit but do people actually know what they are celebrating? why do some people have christmas in November and others in January?
Isnt it funny how atheists also celebrate christmas and with the christian tradition lol. They come up with their theories etc and then go ahead and celebrate christmas in a different way lol. Is this not picking things you like and doing them? Is this not double standards? and yet you condemn christians like mad

if aliens do happen to exist, would they need the gospel preached to them as well? Jesus commanded his apostles to spread and teach his doctrine all over the world to every creature. so if aliens do happen to exist, would they need to hear the gospel as well for salvation?

Ok, I'm a Christian and I have this gift of the Spirit. I'm not sure why. Right now I'm reading some books on demons and deliverance, and it's helping me understand a little more about how spiritual warfare works, so to speak. Every since I was 14, God, for some reason, has given me the ability to see and experience the workings of the devil and demons. For the longest time, I wasn't so sure about it being a 'gift', more of a curse. But I'm starting to understand differently. I'm starting to understand more how the devil works, his power, and that I have so much more power over him through my Saviour, Jesus Christ. I am wary of certain spritual gifts (like speaking in tongues.... since if done contrary to the Bible, it CAN be of the devil) so I would like advice from very much Bible based people. What should I do? Should I seek to be part of the ministry of deliverance? How do I know if it's what God wants me to do? And if not.... why do I have this gift?

MY FRIENDS I HAVE A QUESTION ? ARE YOU SAVED? I AM NOT ASKING IF YOU GO TO CHURCH OR EVEN IF YOU ARE A MEMBER OF A CHURCH BUT ARE YOU SAVED? ARE YOU SURE YOU WILL GO TO HEAVEN WHEN YOU DIE?
GOD SAYS IN ORDER TO GO TO HEAVEN YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN IN JOHN 3:7 JESUS SAID TO NICODEMUS, YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN".

YOU CAN BE SAVED TODAY.HOW?

FIRST MY FRIEND YOU MUST REALIZE YOU ARE A SINNER. FOR ALL HAVE SINNED AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD (ROMANS 3:23)
BECAUSE YOU ARE A SINNER YOU ARE CONDEMNED TO DEATH
FOR THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH (ROMANS 6:23 (WAGES MEANS PAYMENT)
THIS INCLUDES ETERNAL SEPARATION FROM GOD IN HELL.
...IT IS APPOINTED UNTO MEN ONCE TO DIE BUT AFTER THIS THE JUDGEMENT HEBREWS 9:27
BUT GOD LOVED YOU SO MUCH HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON JESUS TO BEAR YOUR SIN AND DIE IN YOUR PLACE...HE HATH MADE HIM TO BE SIN FOR US...THAT WE MIGHT BE MADE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM (2CORINHIANS 5:21).
JESUS HAD TO SHED HIS BLOOD AND DIE.
FOR THE WAGES OF THE FLESH I

If I were born into a Christian family, would that make me believe that Christianity is the one true religion? In how many religious families is this the case in the modern world? Do you have a choice when you are young? Do most people accept what they are told when they are young without question? Would religion be as wide-spread if individuals could make a choice about religion when they're adults, without brainwash bias from childhood?

I just got back from a judging a middle school debate tournament and while talking to a friend at the train station she had some jokes that were to my detrement so of cousre I say I'll throw you on the tracks and then she says I'll get up and throw you in front of the train and of course I say well I'll haunt you for the rest of your life and won't put in a good word for you in heaven. Then she says I don't beleive in God so I say so you're atheist and then she says no I just don't care about religion. So what I am asking is can you actually be indifferent to religion or is it you're one thing or you're the other and my friend is just confused. Please do not comment on the conversation please just answer the question?

Sorry for the misleading title, but I am trying to get as many Atheists as possible to reply to this question. And now that I have your attention….

In order to say “I do not believe in God,” you must first have some concept of who or what God is. Where did you learn about this concept, what specific features of the concept did you find so difficult to accept, and how old were you when you rejected it? What were you taught about God that you could not accept? In otherwords, I'm looking for a description of the God-concept which you came to reject. Please be as detailed as possible in your description.

Why is it that Christians and Jews can accept (and have established) secular societies (such as Israel), while so many Muslims argue that religion trumps all?

For instance, Israel’s first Arab minister, Raleb Majadle, declared, in stating that Islamic law should trump Israel’s secular law,

"I hereby inform you, esteemed MK Eldad, that I may be a minister for one, two or ten years but I was born a Muslim, and a Muslim I shall die. I respect Israeli law... but if there is a contradiction between the law and my deep faith as a Muslim, I announce that I will know what to choose." [1]

Why can Jews live by secular law in Israel, while all their neighbors insist on rigid religious laws?

Ok, so say I were to pray to God. It seems logical to ask for something sacred, something simple, something that everyone can relate to like good health, food, good weather and so on. Does the ritual still work if I ask for something more complicated? Will God make my computer run as fast as it did before (please exclude jokes)? Will God increase the gas-mileage on my car? Will he shorten the release date of Starcraft 2? What differentiates my wishes from the "proper" wishes? Does it not apply to things that didn't exist back when the Bible was more believable?

Someone recently was talking about how proud they were to be African and that they enjoy learning more about Africa and the culture they came from. So I said "Hey i really enjoy being German and Irish, and the culture that comes with it! we've done so much for the world and i am just proud to be European." They looked at me like I was Hitler and fled. Later I heard them saying how whites are so racist with their culture. Oh wow... what are your Thoughts?

By this I also mean the freedom to be agnostic, athiest, etc... So many here can't seem to handle that others have the RIGHT to believe as they wish. That's terribly sad, and a bit scary too.
