Someone recently was talking about how proud they were to be African and that they enjoy learning more about Africa and the culture they came from. So I said "Hey i really enjoy being German and Irish, and the culture that comes with it! we've done so much for the world and i am just proud to be European." They looked at me like I was Hitler and fled. Later I heard them saying how whites are so racist with their culture. Oh wow... what are your Thoughts?

We are doing good just to be allowed to be white.
Whites are not allowed to show any pride in the fact that it was their ancestors that brought civilization to every part of the world it exists in.
Maybe it's time for the n.a.a.W.p.

No! A person is racist if his thoughts and actions make a person of another race feel or be treated as less than he is and won't accept the differences in the human race...which is the only RACE there is btw. Science is proving every day that all humans share similar ancestry. There was a show on PBS in NY where a HS bio class experimented with DNA. Students were asked which race they believed they arose from. Of course the Scandinavian, European, Black and Asian each said just that. Then the tests came back and shocked the blue-eyed, blond haired white kid with black DNA. The black kid had the same DNA as the Asian kid and so on. PLEASE be proud of your national origin and the accomplishment of the people from that country without letting ancient history and teachings enter in to it? Would you limit the use of your computer by thinking that it works like a pen and pencil?

No, youre only a bigot if you look down on other ethnicities, there is nothing wrong with being proud of your people but that is not a reason to believe that others not in your group are less than you.

No, if they can have pride of their heritage, then why can't you? Also, white people are not the only race who are racist,or have done bad things in the past.

That person must be very narrowed minded,so I would not even worry about that person. Everyone has their ups and downs, but that does not mean that everyone acts the same certain way.

I am not white but i know EXACTLY what you mean. I am proud of being hispanic, does that mean i hate any other race other than hispanics? no, i respect every single culture, every single color, every single person... beceause you are white and proud does not mean that you are racists... whoever said you were racist are idiots

everybody should be proud of there origin and race and not be called racists because of it

You're only a racist if you believe you are superior to other races.

But there is nothing wrong with being proud of your people. I'm proud to be Black and White people should be proud to be White. Everyone should be proud of who they are WITHOUT being racist. But there is a fine line between being proud and being racist. Try to find the right balance.

I don't think there's anything wrong with being proud of your culture.
St. Patricks Day is a big deal where I live. And people of all colors go to the parades and celebrate.

I enjoy the fact that my family come from a Danish background, but I am a red-blooded AMERICAN now. Does that make ME a racist? I don't think so. What does anyone else think?

No, you aren't. Nothing wrong with being proud, just don't act like it's better than anyone else's. All cultures are equally as bad- and as good.

people who are "proud to be black" use that as a defence agaist the stigma of racism. you have no stigma of anything to defend yourself against.

are you doing something to reduce the terrible inequalities between whites and blacks? so far I only hear you belittling blacks. as long as those inequalities exist, some people are the victims of racists, and others are racists.

No. "Racist" is pejorative against White people, exclusively. You were called "racist" because of your skin color, not because of your culture, beliefs, or behavior.

Don't worry about it, we've all been there. There is no point in trying to appease such an ignorant and intolerant hypocrit.
