Why is it that Christians and Jews can accept (and have established) secular societies (such as Israel), while so many Muslims argue that religion trumps all?

For instance, Israel’s first Arab minister, Raleb Majadle, declared, in stating that Islamic law should trump Israel’s secular law,

"I hereby inform you, esteemed MK Eldad, that I may be a minister for one, two or ten years but I was born a Muslim, and a Muslim I shall die. I respect Israeli law... but if there is a contradiction between the law and my deep faith as a Muslim, I announce that I will know what to choose." [1]

Why can Jews live by secular law in Israel, while all their neighbors insist on rigid religious laws?

AFRICANA: I realize that Islam is a religion. But many Muslims living in the west and in most Muslim countries refuse to accept secularization. Turkey is the best example of 'secular' Islamic states, and it is hardly something to brag about...

Mew25: A secular state can be comprised entirely of religous people ... so long as there is seperation of 'church' and state. That exists in Israel, regardless of how many religious Jews (or Christians or Muslims) there are.

Jesus told us to render to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's. I think that's the original separation of Church and State. Also in Christianity we know that not everyone will believe as we do, that we should just tell of God's Grace and move on. Christianity is a way of life for the individual, but not expected for all of society. Judaism is the same. It's a personal and individual choice. Of course there are exceptions to this, but that doesn't make it any less true.

Islam is not worried about the individual. It's always been tribal in nature, a group identity. That's why there are honor killings, suspicion, community of faithful (ummah), culture of shame. Culture and politics are an integral part of islam. There is no separation of "mosque and state".

God Bless.

Sorry to tell you this, but most Muslim countries are secular. Do your homework before embarrassing yourself. Your link is crap.

***Jews have lived among Muslims freely for centuries. Take Iran for the best example. You can't PAY those Jews to leave. Iraq has the highest graduate degree rate among women, and has always been secular. Christian Assyrians make up a big chunk of the population, and are dying alongside Muslims in this war. If the "Israeli national news" is going to be the only source here, than this is not a serious question. It's fiction.

Well, you got it wrong Islamic State was the First state ever to establish a system of coexistence of ethnic and religion groups. 1400 years a go a secular society was "system of coexistence of ethnic and religion groups"
1400 years ago in the west if you are not a catholic you will beheaded any where they find you.
The issue of Israel Vs Palestine is the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories which was never part of Israel. The issue has nothing to do secular society .

Because everything about the Muslim religion involves their every action, deed, movement, or word. It's a lifestyle to them, not just a religion.

Israel doesn't exactly seem as secular as you make it sound...I went there this summer, it's not completely religious (there are obviously tons of secular jews there) BUT it is a religious state.

Wait a minute! Are you serious?
Christians and Jews accept a secular state?
What planet are you on?
Let me say two words: Evangelicals and Israel.
you may want to reconsider your question.

Ok "jesus loves you" I've been tracking your answers for a while now and I'm afraid that for the first time, I'm reporting someone. Go spout your rascist bullsh*t somewhere else!

Let me get this straight; I get 4 thumbs down for reporting a guy who refers to Muslims as being "hateful because their the color of turds?"
Some of you people make me sick!
