The spirit is the pure essence of man, the chi, bio electric energy ect. The flesh is the container that allows the spirit to learn and experience this world as we were intended to so that when we pass on we have the knowledge need to carry on in the next life.

If you are saved
Your spirit is clean, Jesus did that, when you accepted Him you were given His righteousness.

Your flesh is what sins
luckily when you die the sin stays with it in the grave and does not go before God.

When you accepted Christ your flesh and spirit were separated.

That's why going to heaven is not based on works or how good you are it is by faith on Jesus and His righteousness.

Hope I was a help
