The Christian church body ( all churches combined) would raise up an estimated over 80 billion dollars a year. Thats enough money to build a strong sturdy house for every poor family in the world. Provide clothes... we could build a bunch of factories, make and give away clothes to all the people who need them. Build over 80 billion wells in africa and bring them water so much water the desert would be an oasis... The possibilities would be endless what we could do with that money, free hospitals to help the sick. Yet Christians will say "We need that money to pay the clergy".. I guess the clergy are having one hell of a time... my conclusion, Christians are no less sinful, greedy and selfish than the rest of us.

I wish I knew,I found out churches were wealthy when I was a child.I am for helping the hurting millions of other countries but we have so many here at home that also could use a helping hand, and so many churches just look the other way and do nothing.I can't believe that's what Jesus intended and somedays am very down about it.I have asked this at my church and was told its church business,so sad I am having a hard time finding a new church home I simply can not support some missionary in another country while my neighbor down the road is hungry. We can feed the world but we don't,good question though.

Okayyyyyy.....we'll build 80 billion wells in Africa with 80 billion dollars. That's a buck per well. Then we'll do all this other stuff with what?
Christian organizations do exceptional amounts of charity work throughout the world.
MY conclusion is that you have absolutely NO idea what you are talking about. You have NO idea how the world works. You have NO idea that over a trillion dollars of private wealth has been taken in taxes since Lyndon Johnson's 'War on Poverty' began in 1965 and poverty is no closer to being solved. Throwing money at a problem will never solve it.
Neither will throwing mud at a group of people you happen not to like.

No the clergy aren't having a hell of a time, its the ones on the top driving Bently's and living in Mansions. Maybe thats THEIR interpretation of Christianity, sad isn't it.
Sorry for the ones that gave me thumbs down, the truth hurts. Don't you watch the news? They're the church not God don't ever get the two confused.

Why are you judging? Many Christians give generously to the poor. What do you do to help? Why don't YOU start a foundation to help meet these needs?
That would be really cool for you to do!

BushWacker - the thanker of God; should have spent the trillions he spent on war to help the poor. But, even then we would hardly have made a dent in world poverty.

So true how they are hypocrites on this issue. With that much money, we can say bye-bye to poverty, hunger, etc., but NOOOO they need it to help spread the word, when originally I don't think Jesus or anyone else intended the Church to be paid...

I was thinking the same thing. It sickens me..Every poor person can be fed and in homes if we raised money in the Church. And seeing some preachers live in mansions and have their own private jet and big cars, while they are people with no food and no roof over their heads no clothes on their back. And while some of us go to sleep at night with a smile on our faces and bellies are full, their are poor people going to sleep with tears rolling down their eyes praying for Jesus to help them. From now on my tithes and offering is going to the poor community. I'm fed up with this mess.
And if people in africa can worship outside, surely we can worship outside and collect money as well and give it to the poor community. May God bless those people.

Not all clergy are greedy. Only a select few are. I know many who donate what little stipend they receive to missions and individuals. One that comes to mind is a priest who comes to our parish once in awhile. He gets $10.00 for saying a mass, and has donated his money to our needy families.

You are 100% correct on that last statement.
Being a christian doesn't make us sinless.
We still make mistakes and mess up every day.
We are still human and still need help from God to make us more pure and holy in His sight.
But no matter how hard we try, no one will ever be perfect or even close to perfect in His eyes.
All humans are spoiled and rotten.
That's why we needed a Savior.
