One summer evening during a violent thunderstorm
a mother was tucking her son into bed.

She was about to turn off the light when he asked with a tremor in his voice, "Mommy, will you sleep with me tonight?"

The mother smiled and gave him a reassuring hug.
"I can't dear," she said. "I have to sleep in Daddy's room"

A long silence was broken at last by his shaky little voice:

"The big sissy"

Good joke! I love thunderstorms, especially when I'm in our caravan and as it's right on the coast we usually have the full force of them. It's just so dramatic and the lightning streaking across the sky is spectacular better than any fireworks display. I don't know who I follow in my family for liking a good storm my Mum and Sister are both scared stiff and my Nan when she was alive used to go and hide in the cubby-hole under the stairs in the dark, even though she used to pretend to me the noise of the thunder was just God moving his furniture around in Heaven so that I wouldn't get scared.
There's nothing like a good storm to blow away the cobwebs and everything just seems so fresh and new afterwards!!

Good one Sylvia! The whole family loves to gather out on the porch (it's enclosed) when the lightning storms start. We have a great view of the mountains and it's fun to sit and watch the lightning and listen to the thunder rolling across the hills. We're up pretty high and we get a lot of lightning strikes. We have lightning rods on the house and the barn. The house has been hit twice in the last five years. It's kinda scary, and really loud when the house gets hit!

Laughed till I wheezed!!
I used to be scared of thunderstorms until I married a man who adored the power of a storm....after that I also love them and am in awe of the might and power involved to bring us such a display. Our two sons are totally at home with storms and love to stand watching and feeling that power. A thunderstorm is a truly magnificent visual and audio treat.
Love it....it is certainly far better than just having rain bucketing down as it is right now. A dreary sky with no other colour but grey and yet more grey. Thanks for the funny.

That brings back so many memories, I only got out of being scared of thunderstorms (actually just the thunder, I love lightning - I'm so weird) in 2001 when I moved into a home of my own. I always used to sleep in my parents bed or when I got too old for that I used to bury myself under the covers with my hands over my ears singing as loudly as I could.

I remember one time I was on my way to school during a real big thunder storm and I remember hugging the walls of the buildings as I walked down the street from my home.
Another time much later as an adult we were in San Antonio, Texas. and were in our hotel room, during the wee hours of the morning when a Thunderstorm hit. It woke me up it was so loud with the thunder and lightning, and I got up, got my video camera and went out on the balcony to film the storm, which was spectacular. Then I said to myself I better get back inside before a thunderbolt hits me. Now I love to go outside to watch thunder and lightning storms, unless it gets too close and then I go back inside to watch it out the window.

Tc isn't afraid of thunderstorms but I am....I get really frightened and even though I've never been struck by lightening or our house hasn't been struck either, they still scare me to the point sometimes where I cry. The storms that frighten me the most are the ones where the thunderclaps are right above our house and the tiles on the roof rattle and the windows sound like they are going to break! We know someone who has been struck by lightening, not once but twice! Luckily she wasn't badly injured during either occasion but she is, understandably, very frightened of them.

This is one of my all time favorite jokes. Thanks! Star Rating!

As for me, I love a good thunderstorm. I love the rain on the roof when I'm in bed, I sleep better. I miss that sooooo much here in Southern California where we rarely have rain.

And in the daytime when there's a thunderstorm, doesn't the clean air smell soooooo fresh? I love it. But then, I guess you could say clean air smells fresh anywhere. I've forgotten what it smells like living here in the smog capital of the U.S.

Time for a move!!!!

that was funny! I love the thunder and lightening but I'm always afraid the electricity will go out since it does often with storms. So I sit watching TV with matches and candles and flashlights and since I cook with an electric stove I usually get the peanutbutter out and make tuna salad so we have something to eat, that is if it happens at nite, daytime just hope it doesn't stop before I have found out Who Did It, on a mystery program.

Loved the joke, it was so cute bless his little heart!
I love thunderstorms now, but I remember when we were kids our mom would make us go into the hallway. She was always saying we might get struck by lighting because she was standing under a light bulb fixture once and lightning hit it and knocked her out. So I guess then we were pretty scared.
