I love God and I have been baptised but I cannot stand to go to church. My mom says that I need to go but I feel it's not right for me. I read my Bible and talk with God to help but still I don't want to go. Chruch is nothing but a place to gossip and it's a bunch of hypocrites. Does anybody else feel the same way I do? Is there anything in the Bible that says you have to go to church?

Uberchic...let's cut through the smoke from the ones wanting to steer you clear of church. It's not church they have a problem with, it's God.

I can't blame you for not wanting to go to church if it's just gossips and hypocrites. I'd be looking for another place as well.

But I also have to remember, when I find a church that is 100% free of gossips and hypocrites, will I destroy their perfect record when I join? I'm not perfect, so, maybe there are parts of my life which can be seen as "hypocritical".

Seriously...are there verses? Sure are...lessons about the church being a body of believers. Think of it this way... can i serve my community by myself, or am I more effective with help? When I'm sad, why be sad by myself? When I have victory, who would I share it with?

My prayer is to ask God to give you a heart to hunger for fellowship with others who share a hunger to be in His presence. Remember, an ember by itself will eventually snuff out, but together, a flame can rise up!

There is a Caution in the Bible Hebrews ch 4;Forsake not the assemblying of Your Selves together as the matter of some is, But all the more as You see "That Day Approaching"
Someone in the Church needs You; Satan is putting a lot of effort into keeping us away from Church "Body Of Christ" Individual Jew and Gentile;-------Do not let a "hypocrite" stand between You and God, Speak to that Lying devil that is Gossiping,:In the Pentecostal Meeting place we Lay hands on People and cast that Lying devil out. He has someone under Bondage;
Nonbelievers will Repent or Reject;; The Landscape is changing;

The Apostle Paul is the one who wanted the early Christians to gather in a church. This is only mandated by some churches, and others are more free about it. Fellowshiping at church is part of it, but churches are really supposed to be places of prayer and worship dedicated to God.

I have found some churches to be much more spiritual than others, some are downright rude acting like cliques and are like the one you describe.

Ask your parents if it's ok with them if you find another one.

Till then, remember, you're right, God is everywhere, and always with you. He will lead you and guide you to the best church for you, and you will know it in your heart!

Just because perhaps the majority congregation members are gossipy snobs and nowhere near spiritual, doesn't mean that all churches are loaded with those kinds of people.

You may be stuck until you're 18 if your parents won't consent... but in all honesty, the time will pass faster than you think.

Best wishes to you, and you're in my thoughts and prayers... ~StudiousOne

let me try and help you here- granted there are some churches that are better than others, however, I hate to tell you this, everyone who steps into a church needs Jesus- and that includes those of us who call ourselves Christians- just because we are Christians, it does not mean that we are perfect. Ok, let me explain= when we become Christians, YES we are to become more like Christ, every day, and we should be wanting to sin less and less- however we still do what we are not supposed to do , and the things we don't do we should be doing- if you are reading your bible you know that Paul says this in Romans about himself.
Yes the bible does say in Hebrews that we are not to forsake the fellowship of believers. Instead of just complaining about what church is , why don't you take a step of faith, and ask God how He could use you to further His Kingdom at your church- you may be amazed how other people start looking different when you purpose to serve them. In the process of this, you will realize to that you are not perfect either, and being in a family of believers can help each other grow.

readings in the bible seem to contradict each other..... and also can be interpreted in different ways by different people

To put it simply: The relationship you have with God is between you and God! Do what is right for you... do not let anyone tell you that if you do not go to church you are a bad person or that you are not practicing your religion! Anyone who judges you is going directly against the teachings of God.... “Judge not, that ye be not judged (Matthew 7:1).”

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
Matthew 6:5-6

You achieve salvation through believing and knowing God, not through good works (unless you are Catholic, which contradicts Christ's death for us.) It is good to assemble but it is not necessary for salvation. God tells us that church is a good thing, and when we love God we want to take his advice. I think you might find that you can enjoy church, if it is the one that is right for you. Don't go to a church just because your parents or your friends go there. Try taking a month or two and go to a different church each week. Get to know the people and the activities that are there. You might find that you can actually enjoy learning about God and worshipping Him with others. Also, pray about it. Let God help you with this decision.

There is a passage in the New Testament that says: do not forsake the body. Meaning, be amongst other prayerful people. Community boosts our faith, and our faith and experiences may help others on their path.

I suggest going back to church with your mom and trying to hook up with some people who are prayerful and working out their salvation. There's always a few in every church.

As for the others, I would talk to the minister in regards to the gossiping and what have you, and tell him flat out how you feel about going to church. Perhaps he will have a string of sermons on this behavior. Pray for those people; they know not what they do.

I believe in God but not the bible wich was written by man. I do not believe that the creator intervenes or has any intention to do so. The bible was written by people out for power. Catholagist-Jews wrote the new tesitment. After Publication the Sect broke apart from the Jewish Faith and started Christianity and The Church witch is a place for Clergy to hurt our children.

As a Jewish agnostic, I feel your dislike of structured services. Have you told you mom that you don't like the hypocrisy you see in that church? Maybe you could find a better church to go to. Or maybe you could spend time volunteering at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter--which I think is far better than sitting in a church listening to a hatemonger in the guise of a clergyperson spewing rhetoric.
