Christmas? I have friends that are atheists and some family that is, but I don't understand how they can celebrate Christmas when the whole point is that Jesus was born on that day. (I'm Christian) Sorry if I sound ignorant, I'm only 14, and I don't mean to come across as rude but I am honestly curious.

So theres this white dude at my school. Hes nuts.
He wears braids in his hair, talks ghetto and acts ghetto. Says he grew up in the hood, and he doesnt like white people at all.

On his myspace page theres this big disclaimer basically proving how black he is.
He has tried to talk to me on several occasions but I feel like hes putting on an act and thats not really him. I mean come on...how can you say you dont like your own race?
Should I tell him to stop acting this way or do you think that thats just the way he is and I need to accept it?
He doesnt seem like hes being true to himself.
He has gone overboard with the whole being black thing! lol

Lets try this a different way. The apostles and a few other inspired men wrote what we know as the Bible. Is there any single tradition that the writers of the Bible taught that is not included in the Bible? For instance a letter of Paul saying Mary was sinless? Or writings of John saying the Pope is infallible? Or are all the traditions we can trace specifically to the writers of the Bible in the Bible. Is there any tradition outside the Bible that can be shown was specifically taught by the writers of the Bible?

Isn't there something to be said for being put off by that which is unjust? Shouldn't we be angry about some things? There are certain things in life that are just wrong...murder, rape, molestation, child abuse... does it help any of us to forgive these kinds of trespasses especially when such a monster feels they have every right to be doing the horrible acts they do?

I understand that forgiveness is mostly for the benefit of the forgiver so they will not be locked in anger and resentment. But do we sometimes take forgiveness too far because it is easier than facing and dealing with the horror that some people do?

Thats what GOD did. According to the story, Adam and Eve ate a piece of fruit, and were then condemned to death (because the punishment of sin is death). Along with their billions and billions of children, who all died because of the original sin.

All of this, because of a piece of fruit. How is that fair? I thought the christian god was supposed to be forgiving.

Can you both (mean the Theists and Atheists) give me 10 reason to (for the Theists) believe in God, and (for the Atheists) to not believe in God.

When it's full of such ignorance, close mindedness, and lack of education when it comes to any other religion than it's own.
I'm not an atheist but more so agnostic and through educating myself from various religions, etc...I really get disgusted at the, "principle" of organized religion. So just because I don't want to praise an invisible space god he'll send me to hell? I say bring it...Just because someone is gay or not of the Christianity faith then they're damned? ::rolls eyes:: How can this so called loving god cast away someone for simply questioning his existence without having proof. And for you bible bangers....I don't consider faith as proof!

I don't bash god or a god pertaining to a particular religion but I do bash the hypocrisy within the followers. I think we all want that security blanket because not knowing is not such a good feeling. Makes a hella good fairy tale though ::winks::
