I don't care for the idea of an Atheist Mafia. One of the things I hate about religion and patriotism is the inherent governing of though. Loosely joined atheists is much better because, it insures to some degree, the freedom of thought.

What do you think?

One of my friends is going to be baptized into the Mormon church, and I am of course, very happy for her since she has found spiritual fulfillment. I want to get her something for her baptism, and I thought maybe a book. I know some Mormon Books--The Book of Mormon, obviously, D&C, Gospel Principles, The Pearl of Great Price...are there any others that are widely read or considered "good" books by the Mormon community? I want to get her something to show her that I really support her, but I don't have a good idea what things would be good gifts. I am not Mormon, so I really don't know. Thank you for any help you can give.

Now lets say the big bang theroy was correct and thats how the earth was created ? How can life just appear without an intelligent designer. The Earth was once filled with no life so is spontaneous generation correct life started from none living things ? How was the first cell evolved from a non living substance. I forgot his name but in the 13th century it was though that rats came from rags and magots came from meat spontaneous generation the belive that living things originated from non living things correct. But this was dissapproved it also dissaproved evolution because life just cant appear unless you belive in spontaneous generation or an intelligent design im 13 amd i figered it out now have you ?

Remember that Brother Russel and his IMMEDIATE Associates Decided after an (EXTREMELY) Extensive Bible Study that the "Worldly" Date of 539 B.C.E. was the "Foundation" 4 Understanding the END of the "Gentile Times" in the Year 1914 AND Then ALL (OTHER) Bible Prophecies ! ! !

Why was the year 539 B.C.E. So (CRITICAL) to having an "Accurate" Understanding of Bible Chronology and Utimately the year 1914 ???

just seen this article on YA news in regards to Christianity and homophobia
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/pressass/20071118/tuk-tutu-criticises-gay-obsession-6323e80_1.html
please if you read the link.... go back to the USA section of R&S as this is a UK link

Archbishop Desmond Tutu has criticised his own church for being "obsessed" with homosexuality.

The South African Nobel laureate said God "must be weeping" at seeing that the Church had such misplaced priorities. He also criticised the present Archbishop of Canterbury for not demonstrating the attributes of a "welcoming God".

Speaking to Michael Buerk for a special Radio 4 programme, Archbishop Tutu, 76, said: "Our world is facing problems - poverty, HIV and Aids - a devastating pandemic, and conflict. God must be weeping looking at some of the atrocities that we commit against one another. In the face of all of that, our Church, especially the Anglican Church, at this time is almost obsessed with questions of human sexuality

My mother is "black" but from Panama. Actually, her whole family was born and raised in Panama speaking Spanish, but they are all "black".

My father is also "black" and from Jamaica, as is his entire family, but the thing is, his dad i was always told was "black" but he has blonde hair and blue eyes!

So what does this make me? Just "black"? Is anyone really one specific race?

I think the other chick's question was hinting at something a little racist... But for real, we Americans (yeah and we come in a lot of shades, whether you hate whites or blacks or whatever, the terrorists hate ALL OF US) are sitting here letting all these people into our country and we know for a fact that a bunch of them are planning to attack us. Don't know how I got a thumbs down for saying that, unless folks are scared blind. Also, we have a lot of problems with our own country. SO MANY Americans are in poverty and there are limited options, but still we want to let everyone else come here and have a chance. Maybe they forgot history: Rome fell when it was overrun by barbarians. Wouldn't it be smart to say, tough luck, NO MORE VACANCY? Then search out those terrorists who already got in, secure the borders, and take care of our own????

I had a weird dream the other night, that im trying to interpret and something weird was said about St. James, and i have most of the dream figured out, except that. the thing that was said was "go get on the train and tell the pope that St. James hasn't seen Matt yet." (matt's my brother)... so if i know what he was the saint of, or known for, maybe i can figure the rest of the dream.

Which poses the question: What is it about this God that is so radically different from the Greek and Roman Gods whom many view as a mockery? How are Western religions differentiated from any other group deemed as a cult from the Western perspective?

Is it such a radical thought to perhaps suggest that we ourselves are the Creators of this Universe? Many Quantum Physicists are coming to the conclusion that the Universe itself is an intelligent being, and that our thoughts and beliefs help shape how we perceive the world (reality).

This is just an example, it may or may not be true. My point is, that there are a plethora of different options as to who created our Universe. Why not discover who it is yourself rather than following a book created thousands of years ago? In modern times, a Biology book just ten years old is considered outdated. What is it about The Bible that keeps it free from becoming outdated or corrupted by human hands?

I have a crush on a boy. He is very funny and kind. He talks and jokes with me sometimes but I hate the fact that everytime I see him I can't concentrate on my work. I try not to notice him, sometimes I even ignore him which is probably bad because he might think I don't like him. What should I do? I hate the way I feel sometimes.

Also I go to a Christan academy which only has 39 kids so basically everytime I turn around he's right their because the school is so small. I also know that lust is a sin, but the image of him just pops up in the most important situations.
