One of my friends is going to be baptized into the Mormon church, and I am of course, very happy for her since she has found spiritual fulfillment. I want to get her something for her baptism, and I thought maybe a book. I know some Mormon Books--The Book of Mormon, obviously, D&C, Gospel Principles, The Pearl of Great Price...are there any others that are widely read or considered "good" books by the Mormon community? I want to get her something to show her that I really support her, but I don't have a good idea what things would be good gifts. I am not Mormon, so I really don't know. Thank you for any help you can give.

What an awesome friend you are!!! It's good to see someone who cares more about the person then about what they believe in. And it's great that you are so supportive of whatever she chooses. That is the mark of a true friend!
As far as getting her something, do you have a Deseret Book around? It's an LDS book store that has a ton of good, uplifting, spirit building things. If you don't have a store to go to, or don't know where one is, go to their website. There is a place to do a search for a store near you, or you can just shop online.
Gospel principles isn't scripture, but it's a great book!! In our scriptures are the Bible- always first in a quad- Book of Mormon, D&C and Pearl of Great Price. You can buy them bound together, it's called the quad. They can get pricey, so just a warning.
I read a really good book a while ago. It's called the peacegiver. It's about the atonement, and Christ and the peace it brings into our lives. It's a great one!!! I would recommend that one to anyone. What you could do is call Deseret book and see what they recommend.

You are a very considerate and culturally-sensitive friend! Some non-canonical books that your friend might enjoy are:
Jesus the Christ by James Talmage
The Holy Temple by Boyd K. Packer
Other Mormon books that I've heard are fantastic but haven't personally read:
Believing Christ: The Parable of the Bicycle and Other Good News by Stephen E. Robinson
Following Christ: The Parable of the Divers and More Good News by Stephen E. Robinson
Hope this helps. If you'd ever like to learn more about Mormonism, visit my site at http://www.allaboutmormons.com

i do not imagine the church has ever extremely taken a stance in this. *in my view*, i trust that individuals outdoors of Christianity and Mormonism might want to be inspired by ability of God and be religious human beings. i imagine there is a few reality interior the Koran, and probably reality interior the further books of the Bible besides. i'd not flow so some distance as to say i imagine the Koran is really the note of God. i'm in basic terms putting forward that i trust there is reality to all religions and that individuals interior of all religions might want to be very religious. for instance, i'm extremely positive that John Paul II and Ghandi were both inspired by ability of God. shop in suggestions regardless of the reality that that which could no longer unavoidably be the opinion of all Mormons. it really is in basic terms my own opinion. We even trust that God nevertheless exhibits issues to us by ability of our Prophet. We trust that there has been scripture that has been lost over the years or has no longer been printed to us yet. Our professional canon is the e book of Mormon, the Bible, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of large cost.

There is a Mormon cannon? OMG! Is it loaded?!?!?
Lol...jk.
Well books like Gospel Principles aren't canon, but it is a good book. There is Preach My Gospel, which teaches you more about the gospel and how to discuss it when the topic comes up. A lot of people have one.

The only books that are canonized scripture are the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. There are others that people refer to, but these are the only ones we refer to as scripture.

You've had some good replies thus far, except for Samson's.
Consider getting your friend what is called the "Quad." It contains the four basic sets of scripture the LDS Church uses.
Also, as previously mentioned, the "Preach My Gospel" is an excellent gift. Try www.ldscatalog.com and review their inventory.

You've already got great answers sharing what we consider scripture.
I really think this book would make a great gift though:
http://deseretbook.com/store/product?sku=4253418
It's called "Stand a Little Taller" and it's got scriptures and inspirational thoughts by Gordon B Hinkley (our current Prophet) for every day of the year.

Some good "gift" books could be, "Jesus the Christ," by James Talmage, "A Marvelous Work and a Wonder" by LeGrand Richards, and "Lectures on Faith" and the "Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith," by Joseph Smith.
