I just read a post where a person will not be able to afford gifts for their children this year. Does anyone have some substantial advice on how to make their childrens season a happy one?

i.e. I know there are Toys for Tots, but how do you contact them, what are the prerequisites, etc...

Also, I know many businesses, companies, school districts, faith based charities and other charities collect gifts for children-how would you go about finding out how they distribute them?

My school asks teachers and community members to try to be aware of families that may need extra assistance and reaches out to them, but I'm sure there are some families who slip through the cracks.

Any advice would be great!

Simply because I don't believe in God doesn't mean that I also don't believe in death being a transition from one life form into another. Do people even realize that Buddhists and pretty much every Non-Western religion is also Atheist?

I know that most people don't see x-mas as the birth of Jesus, but as a time for showing love to family. But in origin, it is a religious holiday, so why should athiests celebrate aswel? Would you expect Non-Jewish to celebrate Hanukkah?

It's that time again. The friday after Thanksgiving the malls and chain stores will be swamped with deal buying shoppers. How much money do you spend on that day?

Also, what time do you hit the stores? I get up at 6, I'm out the door by 7:00 am.

I love the power of sermons in Baptist churches, I love the traditions and rituals of Catholic Churches, I love the openness of ideas in Unitarian Churches, and I love the inner peace of Buddhism. Can't I study them all and take the good of what I like from each?

Last sunday in a room of three hundred plus people a few people got baptised and then a few minuts later a few more and then a few more and then I look to the congregation and there were ten people sitting down and the rest were getting baptized, one of the pastors heard about right afterward and her eyes lit up and her jaw had to be scraped off the floor... then we had a thanks giving feast which felt more like a wedding feast if you know what I mean. This friday a few of us decided just to worship God in a prayer house and see where God was leading us. We prayed and sang and sang for only three hours but near the end drunk and silly from the Holy Spirit we sang Matt Redmans You never let go and when we got to the part "I can see the light that is coming..." there was this lamp that wouldn't turn on as much as we tried to; that turned on and we all started to laugh and jump up and down as excitement. And then a girl prophecied. Is it just us or is it happening everywhere?

I don't belong to any Organized Religion, by the way. Just in case you were about to call Buddhists (who are by far less angry than either of the two groups) arrogant or some equally as annoying a comment.

My question is based on what is prevailing in most regions in India. Black is also used as a colour to express grief and protest in India. This is an innocent question and I request my brethren in Yahoo Forum not to misconstrue it.
I am dark in complexion and I am proud about it.
