Some people get the misconception that we Buddhists 'worship' the Lord Buddha, because we bow to a statue of him.
But the triple gem statues are but a reminder to us to strive to develop peace and love within ourselves and that we must look within not without, to find perfection and understanding.
The bow is a sign of humility, respect, gratitude, and for myself personally, love.
I do not worship anyone or anything.

Buddhists do not worship Gautama Buddha or any other Buddha. Buddha simply means "enlightened one". Buddhists follow the teachings of Gautama Buddha as the means to attaining enlightenment. Buddhists look to the Buddha as an example of a person who attained enlightenment. He was a person, not a deity. In Buddhism there is no god.

Buddha set an example.

I am a Christian, but spent some time living in Korea and my favorite part of being there was looking at the Buddish temples. Nothing was more refreshing and delightful as climbing the mountain to get to a certain Buddist temple, enjoying the company of other people, and nature, the peacefulness. THese are some of my best memories of my lifetime.

If that's part of enlightment, I am totally for that!

They don't silly. Read up on Buddhism first. My father is Buddhist, and was a professor of Buddhism at the University of British Columbia. Your inner self is "worshipped" if anything.

Budda is a symbol., he's not an idol, nobody in Buddhism is an "idol"
