At the council of Nicea in 325AD over 300 Catholic church leaders voted which gospels and missives would be canonized into Holy Scripture for the New Testament. The first vote was to exclude Revelation, not only because it contradicted Christ's teaching that the Kingdom of God would never come with signs (Luke 17:20,21)--but also the author was unknown-It was in a different language to the Gospel of John--& an obviously different writing style to John's Gospel--and transformed Christ from the Prince of Peace into a raving avenger. After the 2nd vote(and some skulduggery)--it scrapped in--This book has been responsible for suicidal doomsday cults-and perverted the Gospel Story.Perhaps it's time for the Catholic Church to admit their mistake!

We are well educated - everything we learn are fact's tested and proven with solid evidences. - hence only then we except it but how come when it come to religion things are not so - after all everyone knows tat just like everything else religion is man made ( GOD is there and he is always GOD - I meant religion ).

Example : communicating with god is very personal !! but why humans are killing each other over the style or which popular method one uses to coomunicate ( protestant Vs Catholics , Chia muslim Vs Sunni Muslim ) after all they are all praying ( communicating with god )

There so many civilization in this world - christian civilization , muslim civilization , hindu , judaism , buddism and other civilizations - all has thier own historical legacy , culture, tradition , language , writting systems , community , social structures and GOD - but why someone from one civilization must say that his GOD or values are true / powerfull then other - how does he/she knows

I seen it on the news the other day, this one particular department store refuses to rush the Christmas season. They have signs up throughout the store that say stuff like "Santa didn't come on the Mayflower" and "Let's talk turkey first, then we'll talk about Christmas." They want to celebrate the holidays in their proper order. I think it's great! What do you all think about it, and does anyone know what the name of it is and where it's at?

What is that I hear? Brain dead people can`t pray. Well if a working brain is a necessity for prayer - is their really something spiritual going on?. Or is prayer and the feeling of the Holy spirit just a function of a working brain?

Commandment 10: you shalt not covet

This Commandment includes all things that are thy neighbors, whether it be thier wife/husband, car, clothes, anything belonging to them. It is not saying that you cant ask God for one just like thiers if you wish. What God is speaking of here, is desiring this object so much as to wish the owner evil. Coveting often leads to Envy and then to strife. Once this course of thought begins, it can rage like a wild-fire causing you and the other person dismay.

I dont know about you but I have always liked and wanted (Not that I ever try) my best friends boyfriend. Does this mean I have sinned and have you ever sinned because of this commandment?

down school levies which might make their taxes go up a hundred bucks or so a year but buy a thousand dollars worth of lottery tickets a year and claim they're helping the schools by buying them? Especially since you may not be helping your school directly. So why not just pay less in taxes and stop offending God.

is that still a grave situation in the Catholic Religion.

I know it's o.k. if you just went to confession and H. Communion recently and then die--all right.
But if you haven't gone to conf, or comm. for a long time years even, is it not good for the soul?

I live in Canada and same-sex marriages are legal here and Im just curious if any religious persons have a tolerant/accepting attitude towards homosexual despite their religious beliefs.
For example, my parents are Muslim but they reconcile free will and tolerance with what their religion says (i.e. it is a sin). My mother thinks they are cute even lol and she loves how nice and joyful gay people are (the ones she has met). My father too and so they both support same-sex marriage and are accepting of gay people. Heck they voted Liberal to make sure their right wouldn't be threatened.
Im just curious if any other religious people take such views.

There was a question a few minutes ago about how to politely communicate to a coworker disinterest in religious activities, and it got me thinking... just how difficult has it been for the atheists here to publicly admit their atheism? Does the religious climate in your geographical location factor into the level of difficulty (as I suspect it does)?

This is actually an answer to a resolved question. Nobody had the right answer. The British do not have a one day holiday. They have a Church Festival where people bring food to celebrate and thank God for the harvest. In Canada, we still do the same thing - used to be that you had to wrap the food in white tissue paper, but now you can bring it unwrapped. Also, in Canada, we do have a one day holiday but it is in October, so it is our rendition of celebrating the harvest - a throw-back from our English ancestors that we have made our own.

According to a website it means: That means we shouldn’t desire anything that belongs to another person. The covetous will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Does that mean you shall not desire somnething owned by another person for example: their boyfriend or top??
