What is that I hear? Brain dead people can`t pray. Well if a working brain is a necessity for prayer - is their really something spiritual going on?. Or is prayer and the feeling of the Holy spirit just a function of a working brain?

Yes, I would answer yes, brain-dead people can't pray. Moreover, sometimes your brain, being alive, may feel like a soul. Or it may feel like it's got a holy phantom or whatever, it's all good.

I would say that the person does not have the function or capacity top pray if their brain is dead. I would say at that point the spirit walks out and the only thing that is keeping the body alive is the soul attached to the silver cord.
I would say that prayers are answered but you must not have the wire cut.

Actually, there has. Of course, there has also been evidence that praying has no effect. There's even been studies that show that having someone pray over you MAKES THINGS WORSE. It is virtually impossible to draw any satisfactory conclusion because the variables involved are so subjective and many of these studies are being performed by groups with an axe to grind. But, for those studies being performed by organizations following reasonably stringent scientific methods (double-blind, etc), no conclusion can yet be drawn. The current CONJECTURE in the medical community is that being prayed over can help your medical condition improve, much the same way as a placebo does. That is, if you think it will work, it will work. As far as I know, nobody has found any evidence that shows someone being prayed over has any better a prognosis as someone who is not being prayed over if they don't actually KNOW they are being prayed over. Even that's tricky because if you didn't think you were doing badly and somebody started praying over you, it might actually make you more scared and actually hinder the healing process. If you think you have a common cold and a bunch of religious types show up at your door step and start praying for your health and/or giving you last rights, you may start to feel symptoms that you shouldn't be medically experiencing, simply because you are being told that you are far sicker than you actually are. The mind is an amazing, but sometimes very annoying thing. "Mind over matter" is not always a blessing. Interestingly, there is a fairly large body of evidence now that the people who are praying ... REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY ARE PRAYING FOR ... receive benefit from the process, more because of how your body reacts to being calm and centered for a few momements than why you are being calm. That is, the process of prayer is very similar, metabolically, to the process of meditation, which is very good for people enduring stress.

I believe that brain dead people are brain dead because their soul has already left their body so it is a moot point. If they believed in God and they prayed for releasement than it obviously happened, or they went to wherever they believe they will go. Either way the question to me is not applicable.

Not sure if this is a joke. So you mention the Holy Spirit--and now one does not blaspheme the H.S.

Sir, regardless if you are straight, sick, atheist or in trouble or not GOD hears all prayers-so no Q about it.

Well, Brain dead people can have dreams, and they can pray in their dreams. So, God may answer their prayers.

If you're brain dead, then...you're dead. So I am not understanding your question. Why would someone who is dead need to pray? Pray for what? They don't have needs anymore. They're dead.

They can't pray. We pray for them. Now If by some reason they can think a prayer sure he will.

I don't know. I guess it's one of the questions I'll ask when I get to heaven.

If a person is brain dead, are they dead? If their soul is gone, then they can't pray.

Don't really know. Interesting.
