Christmas is a pain in my ***. First of all, it is not really a true Christian holiday; it was a winter solstace holiday co-opted by the Catholics. Second, it is much ado about materialism cloaked in a religious rationale (gift from God, etc., etc.). Third, I work in the church and I'd rather have the whole season off to rest in the winter than to bust my *** for the ceremony of the sham. Fourth, Jesus was born in what we know as October. Fifth, the early Church didn't celebrate this holiday. Need more? Christians should stay home, stay simple and rest instead of perpetuating the silly fervor that is Christmas. This year, for the first time, the tree and the decorations stay in the attic and the 25th of December will pass like any other day (all of which are sacred).

Christmas means many things to me. It is 'supposedly' the time of the birth of Christ, so I give a prayer of thanks for that, i.e. Christmas Mass. It is also around the time of the Winter Solstice. It is a time for me to see family members that I rarely see, like my 2 brothers who are in the military. It is a time for me to give even more openly without expecting anything in return, and a great excuse to put on 15 lbs. I have got some of the best cookie and candy recipes ever! Than I like to go to the local Harley Davidson shop and get my yearly Christmas card picture taken with me sitting on Santa's lap.
Yes, it is a season of cheer, my friend.

It is about the birth of Jesus. Yes I spend time with my family but if it were not for Jesus it would just be another day. I spend time with my family year round. Christmas is special because of Jesus.

To find the true meaning of Christmas visit friends and family without any gifts.

I am not a Christian. To me it is a vacation to spend with my children and family.

When I worked I had to take days off without pay on my religious holiday to attend special religious service in my Mosque.

Yule is a time to enjoy a warm fire, feast with friends and family, and rejoice in the coming of the sun from the dark womb of winter.

For me it's a time to spend with my family. Religion doesn't have much to do with it.
